Way too much money for that boat especially with the Johnson in my opinion. You should be able to do much better in terms of newer hull for that price.
Of course there are variables like trailer, options, and condition but it still seems over priced. I see 2000 - 2002s out there for that price. I also don't know for sure if the 95 is a SV2 hull. You probably want to find a 208 with the SV2 design

Regardless of what you decide, the boat should be inspected (surveyed). These boats are prone to transom issues with water intrusion causing rot/delamination. Later models have poly gas tanks whereas earlier have aluminum which can develop leaks. It is easy to check which type that boat has by opening the access plate over the tank and looking at it.

I bought my 1995 208 about 5 years ago with a Yamaha 225 Salt water 2 stroke and yamaha 9.9hp four stroke kicker. Bimini top, aluminum trailer 2 fish finders all cushions and curtains for $7500. Boat was a little rough and after two years I tossed the kicker and repowered with a yamaha 200 4 stroke. It does have a SV2 hull. No bottom paint and used in fresh water.

Yours sounds a little steep unless the motors are relatively new. Mine were original to the boat. In any case get it surveyed before buying.

Why the Sv2 design? Is it the construction of the stringers that they used that makes it better? A better V-Hull ride? For example, if I were looking for a boat, would the lack of a Sv2 be a make or break the deal situation? Just curious for my own knowledge of it all.

That price is very steep! I had a 1995 208 w/ 150 Johnson V6 (original to boat & unknown hours), no kicker. It had a new Guest 10amp charger and ACR relay recently installed and a Lewmar Profish 700 windlass (1 season old). I bought it 2 years ago in NYC for 10k. I repowered it with a 2003 Yamaha 2 -stroke V6 (310 hours), i pulled that gas tanks for inspection and re-epoxied them, i installed a Garmin 7407xsv and gcv10 blackbox, dwnvsn/sdvsn transducer etc., made a functional livewell out of the existing one (plumbed the raw water pump to the tank and made an overflow). Sold the boat this past winter for 16k. That price is for a 1995 208 with a newer engine. As others told you, make sure to have that model surveyed, any used boat should be surveyed. Good luck!

It's not about stringers. The shape and contour of the hull is different. It starts as a deep V and changes angle/shape as you move aft towards the transom. The SV2 hull handles better and is a drier boat too.
If at said, the SV2 was introduced to the 208 in 93, it's a moot point but I really don't remember the actual year

Jeff has that info under FAQ on the years that SV2 came about.

Thank you to all, I decided not to get the 1995 but rather I found a 1989, pre SeaV2. Its a great starter boat go test the waters, no pun intended, :dance to see if this is something I would really enjoy for years to come...

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet there was a guy here awhile ago selling a 208 that seemed to have most of the bugs worked out of it during the year he was here. It's probably still in the for sale section. Honestly can't remember his name or price but I think it was right around there and it was the newer hull design.
