Recently finished a few upgrades to my boat.
Custom built some wooden boxes with 3/4" birch plywood clad in 1/4" black etched ABS plastic
Mounted the Garmin GPS and Fishfinder behind the glass door for the dash.
Mounted the Ship to Shore radio and Fusion Stereo with 2 speakers in the hardtop overhead storage compartment.
Gives it a more finished look concealing all of the wiring.

Grunt , nice work! I did a similar thing a couple of years ago. Removed the clear plastic window, flush mounted my two gps 's on starboard cut to the same size as the plastic window. Put the starboard on hinges so it closes flush with the face of the opening, then attached a a small handle at bottom of starboard with a spring shock to hold it when opened and I store all my gps and instrument info behind them in the original space. Great waterproof space for cameras etc. Cheers, trapper :goodjob
