    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

FWIW: We have an '05 282 which we purchased with original low hour F225s with the standard SWS II 17P stainless props. Use the boat mainly in Pac NW out of Westport for salmon, halibut, tuna. Yammies hit 45 mph tops in sheltered waters in light load (Puget Sound) testing. Got 1.4 down to 1.2 at...

Repower options for 282, real data available?

Can't remember the old prop specs, but the props I have been waiting on are SWS2 SDS15 1/2 x 17. They have been on backorder/out of stock seemingly for ever. Ship date keeps getting pushed back by months. Motivator: Are the props you're looking for the common Yamaha SS three blade ones? I'm...

    New Suzukis on 1989 Sailfish?

You might research the weights some more. Suzuki revised their listed weights a while back to include fluids and props. The previous and relevant weight for a 20" 150 (same as 175) was 485 lbs. Need to determine if props, lower unit oil and injection oil tanks are included in current setup to...

Repower options for 282, real data available?

Comments welcome on choices listed below; any relative cost and/or economy/reliability/ease of maintenance data especially helpful. Re-powering 2005 Sailfish currently equipped with Yamaha F225s with 4 bladed 17" pitch props. Current setup has adequate power, planes easily, but it sure would be...

    Grady 228 Repower

It will be interesting to hear if you see any change in boat attitude sitting in water. The Suzuki is not heavier than the Yamaha, a couple years ago they changed how they weighed their motors and added oil and prop weight. No other mfg includes those items. Suzuki also positions the power...

    New Radar

We had a new Garmin Xhd 24 installed on our 282 Sailfish early this year. Had the same issue as we also trailer. The dealer is a certified Garmin installer and he suggested there is no issue with mounting directly to the front of the hardtop. The bump is still lower than the actual antenna under...

    Repower Question

Thank you for the info and appreciate the offer but I'm out on the West coast. Please post updated numbers later this year as you get a chance to log more hours.

    Repower Question

Do you know the weight of your boat loaded? Does it have bottom paint? How does the power coming up on plane or holding plane at slower speeds compare to the F225s? Is the '98 hull the extended version? What props are you turning? Sorry for all the questions but I'm also looking at options for...

    Re-prop or Re-power 282 Sailfish? (or both)

Can you provide some more details? Did that include the digital gage(s) and props ready to run? Also, was power steering included? With the current boat show incentives including a seven year warranty the Gen2 is certainly a strong consideration.

    Re-prop or Re-power 282 Sailfish? (or both)

I have an 05 282 with F225s with original SWS 15 1/4 x 17 props. It runs great and has plenty of hole shot but gets lousy fuel economy below about 4000 rpm. We run heavy (tuna) and in big water (pacific northwest) where efficiency and staying on plane at slower speeds would be helpful. Have...
