Very frustrating. I went through the same with my '99 180 a couple of years ago. It is nice to have piece of mind now and essentially a brand new boat to enjoy.

See post #2. I have used one of these boxes in my center console for 20 years and all tools remain moisture/rust free.

I have seen where speakers have been located under aft jump seats in the 180. Cannot attest to audio quality though. Let us know what and how you do it and post pics please. A fellow 180 owner. - Bob

What Rob posted above, except mine mounts in a rod holder and the gimbal base lets you angle it so it will drain over the side. The base folds up and it will fit in the center console.

Have you tried reaching out to Grady? I would imagine they are 'captive nuts' but I've never attempted nor needed to remove mine. Is your 180 post 2006? My crossbar is forward (1999). I'm trying to remember what year they switched the crossbar orientation and why.

It sucks this had to happen but the work is significantly cheaper than a new boat. And complete peace of mind !

Mine sits on roller trailer and roughly 10ft (give or take a few inches) at center console windshield bar.

I can provide that for you tomorrow morning.

That last picture looks familiar (like mine). Unfortunately, the wood will never dry out and if you are in a climate where it freezes then the freeze / thaw cycle will continue which I'm sure caused the gelcoat cracks to begin with. At some point the transom will need repair or replacement.
