Here is a photo I found showing the halyard. It is the red cord in this picture. It is still a bit high - I’m 5’8” tall, but I also wanted it to be out of the way for casting spinning Reid’s.

Not a 265, but on my 330, I run the center halyard to the base of the middle rod holder on the port side. It is slightly forward of the holder, so it does not interfere with the holder. It is still a reach, but far better than on the hardtop.

Punted and had the boatyard remove the generator. Now there is a huge void in the bilge. Curious as to what others may have done in that space. Not planning to replace the generator, not interested in a Seakeeper, I've toyed with idea of adding a reserve tank for canyon runs there.

I carry both. It is less about the distance offshore and more about the conditions. Water in the NE is cold, and anything one can do to reduce the response time is worthwhile.
