Well it looks like I will pull the trigger on a 04 Grady 282 (just waiting for some repairs to be made after survey). The boat is on a solid trailer and is ready to roll so looking to have it towed to the west coast (Blaine Washington). As some of you may know I had a nightmare with Shiply on my last purchase so thought I would see if anyone here has had any success with a known hauling company. A lot of web advertised companies seem to be 3rd party companies located in Florida that are similar to Shiply in that they contract out the carriers. I did look at U Ship but after the fiasco that was Shiply I am extremely nervous of going down that road again. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated.

I've known a number of people that used Uship with good results. They all "should" have insurance, but double check. It's a little easier for you to find people since you have a trailer and really only need a "hot shot" hauler with a pick-up truck (Google that, too). You're also only going a short distance (Vancouver to Blaine) so that will help, as well.
I don't know much about what papers you'll need to cross the border - so that will be a good question to ask the hauler (and do some of your own research, too).
In the end, maybe you'd feel better contacting some local marinas (whether Vancouver or near Blaine) and see if they have recommendations.

I honestly would, and three different times now have actually done the drive myself. Sure, it's a bit of a PITA to do, but you know it's going to be done correctly and you won't have to worry about someone else driving your boat through a snow storm, like the previous incident. I've contacted and gotten quotes from UShip each time that I purchased a boat back east, and each time I decided to do the drive on my own.

Tony is based in south Florida, so the boat you're buying would have to be somewhere in the southeast for Tony's price to be competitive with anyone else, I would guess.
Tony is a one-man business so he is the only person who handles your boat. And he is licensed and insured.
I've spent many hours in the truck with Tony and I do recall him saying that it is always preferred to have the owner present at a border crossing. Since I've not had my boat cross a border (yet), I don't know how serious that statement was.
