    Scupper hoses

The dremel was the best tool I found to cut these hoses out in that small area. It was an effort, luckily my boat is on a trailer.

    PLB or EPRIB

Thanks all, I picked up an ACR Ebirb. Next question, where to mount it on an Adventure walk around? Or just carry in my ditch bag with PLB?

    PLB or EPRIB

Thank you for the feedback. I think I am OK with the PLB. AI told me this: Both ACR EPIRBs and PLBs have a global range via satellite to alert rescuers. However, EPIRBs are considered superior for marine emergencies because they have larger batteries (48+ hours vs 24 hours), float...

what about out to 50 miles? PLB still good?

    PLB or EPRIB

I currently have an ACR PLB on the boat. I typically fish 10 + miles offshore. Should I be considering an EPIRB or do you all think a PLB is sufficient? I have an Adventure 208.

Is there a rule of thumb you use for rough seas?

Sean - 100% agree with you on being comfortable. I know the boat and crew can handle more challenging conditions, but why? I am going out to to have fun, not to get beat up and frustrated.

Welcome - What's your location? I'm in San Diego.

What have you done to your Grady lately?

I posted this in another thread and thought I'd add it here as well. I got tired of looking at the original cuddy cushions and decided to try an easy fix. I used marine vinyl and staples to adhere the vinyl to the existing cushion backers. For the longer side cushions, I made 1/4 inch backers...

    24 offshore cabin cushion replacement

I ordered my vinyl from Marine Vinyl Fabric. I'm happy with the product. I did not sew. I stapled the fabric to a 1/4 backing on the larger cushions. Not perfect - but much better that what was there before.

    Battery replacement

I've had great luck with the Costco Interstates as well. I use 2 - Interstate 24 DC marine/rv batteries - I run a bait tank, vhs, chartplotter all day w/o issue. I change mine every 5 years, more for piece of mind than need. Keep them trickle charged when not in use.

    228 rear bilge pump location

My 208 had the bilge pump installed on the bottom of the hull (the blue float switch and 1100 GPH red pump). I added a 2nd bilge for redundancy (The white on the hull floor). The 2nd bilge has its float switch mounted about 9 inches higher on the bulk head, it also has a high water alarm...

Need input on quality fishing tools

I typically use the cheap harbor freight pliers and replace when needed, aftco bait nets and aftco scissors. The aftco bait nets are awesome! The jury is out on the scissors, I usually by several at a time and know I will replace thru the season.

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

Most of my trips are all offshore - 50-100 mile round trips on average, with motor running the entire time.

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

WOW - I would love to get out 20 - 30 times a year! You are lucky! This year I did not get out much at all, mostly due to travel and family engagements. I got out maybe 6 times this past year... Usually, in a 'normal' year I get out 10 -15 times, In those years I'll put 50 - 7o hours on my...

Hi VMD, I live in Carlsbad. I keep my boat on a trailer and either launch from Oceanside or San Diego, depending on the fishing.

    Re-adhering Helm and Deck Trim

I used 4200 and several clamps to re install molding and it is holding up ok after 2 years. I like the double sided tape idea as well, I may try that next time.

    Purcahsing a 1998 G-W Adventrue 20'

I posted this in another thread. Since this post, I have changed out my prop to a 14 1/2 to 14 pitch to get me to 6000 rpm. I've haven't done any long runs with it, but I am seeing slightly higher mpg. I Previous prop was a 15 1/4 15m, the data below is from that prop. My experience with...
