    buffer recommendations

I've been continuing my research on buffers and ive found that Makita makes a 5' buffer that the operator can select true random orbit or gear driven dual action modes. This sounds like a great option or it can be a case of trying to do too many things and ending up doing none well. Given my...

    buffer recommendations

It's not so much the decks I'm concerned with, the non skid hides the lack of shine. Its the vertical sides of the cabin and the inwhales that really need the atention. They are dull and oxidized and my big makita is too big to get in there. I wish it would because with a wool pad on it you can...

    buffer recommendations

I'm starting toi get my head into pre season mode and I'm looking at a serious compounding session on my boat. Last season I found that my buffer ( Makita 7" rotary) is really too big to do the walkaround area on my 2006 sailfish. I'd like to pick up a smaller buffer that will allow me to work...

    School me on bottom paint

I like the sounds of the petit hydrocoat, they claim that you can apply it in the fall or winter and it will eventually dry, that works really well for me and a lot of other folks i'm sure. how much paint is required to pain the bottom of a 282 sailfish?

    School me on bottom paint

that picture is from Oct 2022 when i was going through the purchase process. The boat is not necessarily blocked up the same way now. Hopefully they left me a way to jockey the stands around to get the entire bottom painted.

    School me on bottom paint

Thanks gentlemen, this is good information, I wouldn't remove a stand with out putting additional support in to carry the load. I'll look into what paint i can get at Hamilton or I'm sure the marina would be glad to sell me some

    School me on bottom paint

As I plan out my pre launch chores i am looking at bottom painting as one of the jobs I'll need to tackle this season. Last year was my first year with the boat and the marina took care of the pre season stuff but looking at the bottom last fall this spring I'm going to need to paint the bottom...

    2006 Sailfish Upholstery questions

Thanks for the updated Amazon listing Legend. I've got everything in a shopping cart. I just want to be sure that the hangers that slide into the curtain rod will fit on my 2006. Were your original curtains held up with sew in hangers like Hookup linked above?

    2006 Sailfish Upholstery questions

Thanks for the link to your post. I tried to search for the items you listed and they don't link to anything directly. The stitch in curtain hangers that Hookup linked are the style i need and have to be sewn into the curtains. Did you need to sew your hangers into the valences you used??

    2006 Sailfish Upholstery questions

the curtain in question isn't a that type of curtain, it's in the head down in the cabin. You close it for privacy or to keep the light out when you are taking a nap. I've attached a photo of the curtain hanger i'm asking about; the curtain rod it works with is quite a way away from me but the...

    2006 Sailfish Upholstery questions

I finally took the vee berth cushions from my sailfish over to my local trim shop. He said no problem I just have to wait until he gets through all the other projects he has on his plate. I also showed him the curtain from the starboard side. This is the three piece curtain that is in the head...

Advice on first Grady White purchase

As a guy who recently purchased an '06 282 Sailfish i have to say one thing i really appreciate mopre than i thought i would is the stand up head. We overnight on ours fairly often in the summer and not having to sleep on top of or directly adjacent to a porta potty is a big plus. I have just...

    gelcoat repair advice

well maybe that wasn't something I did. The boat got pulled before hurricane Lee. They pulled virtually every boat in the marina in 3 days and i did notice some abrasions on the gunnel from the pull.

    gelcoat repair advice

Thanks for suggesting this channel. I just watched one video and i feel like i know more about boat fiberglass than i have learned in my prior 59 years. This looks to be a great resource for technique and what i really like is he gives you the correct materials to use fro each type of repair.

    gelcoat repair advice

I've done a little work with fiberglas cloth and resin years ago patching holes in beaters I owned in my younger years. would the woven cloth or the "tiger hair" style cloth be the preferred cloth ? also how does one "thicken" epoxy to use for this repair?

    gelcoat repair advice

My boat was hauled for the season recently and i went and cleared all my gear off earlier this week to bring home and store for the winter. While looking at the hull i noticed this chunk missing right on one of the underwater strakes. I don't know how i managed to do this but my bet is a lobster...

    Sailfish Seat Upgrade From Pompanette

You can replace just the arm rests, I bought one set from a member of the forum and a second set from Pompanette this spring and swapped out the grungy arm rests on the seats on my 282 Sailfish.
