motor bracket leak - what's the best fix?

drain plug To replace the drain plug I used the opaque white plastic ssold a westmarine. Previously the original plugs had been replaced by a boat yard with the same material. Problem was the threading got destroyed by removing them and replaceing them every trip. My solution was to get 3/4"...

motor bracket leak - what's the best fix?

Done (almost) I did not remove my engines or bracket. I used a variety of tools; fillet knife, hack saw blade, various other knives and finally a dremmle tool with a very thin wire wheel and totally cleaned out the // between the bracket and the hull. I actually created a very slight groove...

    Lobstering

Best advice, sell the traps and buy some lobster  . the easiest way to protect the boat is to buy some carpet long enough to lay over the gunnel and have it reach the water to protect the hull because you will bang the hull with traps and long enough to run over the gunnel and onto the...

Help removing lower unit - gear case Zuke 175 4 stroke

BPM bpm is who I ordered my parts thru; including the new impeller housing :( Being a first timer the first engine went very slowly, reading directions from two sources and developing, stbd, a system. The good news, on inspection it appears that the stbd engine was OK, no wear, etc. we...

    Sailfish Trailer Cost

I 2nd the craigslist idea. Great place to get bargains. As for winter storage, even though I keep my sailfish 252 on a trailer all summer, in the winter I use boat stands to lift it off the trailer. I think its better for the trailer/tires and also makes it easier to work on the hull. Its...

got it apparently there is an 8th bolt under the skeg (which is removed by removing a bolt that suziki does not count). This last bolt is recessed deep under the sleg and is not noticable unless you look up into the hole under the skeg. thanks to FLOT on THT

how'd you doit? replacing wood at rear of cockpit '89 252g

I have a 1989 Sailfish. The wood panel (plywood) at the rear of the cockpit (separating the area beneath the fish box and bait box where the batteries and switches, and livewell / washdown valve live from the cockpit) is delaminating and needs to be replaced. It currently has three doors...

Help removing lower unit - gear case Zuke 175 4 stroke

Trying to change my impeller. The owners manual says 1) shift to neutral 2) remove 7 bolts and 3) remove gearcase from driveshaft housing. The problem is the gearcase is not dropping free. It seems that the shift rod is not disengaging from the gearcase. I did not remove...
