I just purchased a new Fisherman 216 and it is my first boat (ever), so I have a ton of questions. While she is awesome so far, and I am really enjoying my time on the water, there are a few after-market items that I think would make my experience better. So I am looking for some advice on what modifications I can make:
  • She does not have fresh water shower. I didn't think it was important, but after a couple of days of fishing, I can see how it would help to be able to rinse off with fresh water. I know I could have gotten her with one, but it's not on this boat. Can it be added later, or am I stuck with having to bring gallon jugs of water on board?
  • There is no windshield wiper. Can this be added aftermarket?
  • It would be nice to have a footrest on the leaning post. This is the deluxe leaning post with the live well. Are there options to add a footrest?
  • What can you use for cutting bait? There is no dedicated cutting board?
My apologies if this seems basic, and I appreciate any help provided.

1. Retrofitting fresh water difficult, costly, and probably not worth the effort. Get a couple of these and use when/where needed. Sun Shower Bag No need to have the extra weight of a fresh water tank on board when not needed, and these will definitely warm the water. There are 5-gallon models and lots of manufacturers, so just Google "sun shower bag".
2. Again, a difficult retrofit.
3. Can't help, as I am unfamiliar with the structure.
4. Easy solution. Get this Magma Cutting Board, or its bigger brother, on the same page. Works great and will last years and years.

If you have a flat spot, you can get a cutting board and glue some rubber on the back so it doesn't slip. If you have latches or unevenness you can cut around. This way you don't tie up a rod holder. It stores away real well too.

-Your dealer should be able, and willing, to install or help you get the parts needed for the freshwater and wiper. These are already GW factory options.

-For the footrest, GW uses GG Schmitt. You should be able to access and install one fairly easy. Just make sure to back it properly.

-If you don't have a ski pylon you can install some starboard in that area for a replaceable cutting board.

Hi again. I’ve been looking for an enclosure. I’ve heard that it requires drilling into the windshield. Is that true and has anyone done this on this boat? Thanks again.
