Has anyone attempted to install on of the new 87” shaft Minn Kota Riptide Terrova trolling motors on the bow of a 282 Sailfish?

the only thing I'd be worried about is wind. I guess it could be done.

I’ve had the same thought. The Sailfish has a large “sail-like” profile and not sure how well it would hold you in place with wind & current. Hoping there’s someone who’s done it or this boat or a similar one that could comments.

Hi. Looking to see how this was installed on a gulfstream. Please respond. Inventing the wheel takes a long time.

Hello, i just purchased the Minn Kota riptide terrova 112 87" for my 282 sailfish, A guy is custom building a mount for the bow, I hope to have it next week, There is another guy on this forum who posted pics of his install on a marlin that was really nice. I will have to get the battery charger and batteries wired up elsewhere. We lost a huge fish that broke off 200 lb braid because we could not get the anchor up in time in 116 of water. That did it for me, it ordered the unit as soon as I got back home. I don't know what could have broke the line like that it ran about 150 yards then it just broke off, the line looked like it was cut with scissors, about 200 ft prior to the leader, and the line was not fraided at all?

I was wondering why you decided on a 87" model, as opposed to a 96" (Rhodan)....
On that hull (similar to my Trophy Pro), will the 87" be long enough to still bite into the water when trying to hold in rough seas?

I have a hard one I’m trying to figure out on my 273 chase. Where to put the lithium 36v battery. Anyone else figured this out? I have 2) 31s under the helm and no space for it there. Any suggestions?

I have finished a wood template for my 96” Rhodan for my 282. I did not want to cut the bow rail so I made a plate that attaches to the pulpit. I have some preliminary pictures though I have extended the final template back to the windless. I attached a rope to the bottom of the shaft to assist with deployment and recovery. The final is at the fabricators shop and I’m just waiting for it to be complete so I can get it coated. The ropes in the picture are just for safety since I wasn’t sure if the wood would crack or not. I’ll post pics of the final once it’s done.

amf282, any feedback on performance results with the 2 36v batteries? Anything you would do different or need to consider?
