I don't usually bash, but here goes. Bought a new GX2200 to get the built in GPS and AIS at a reasonable cost. Radio died after three months. Standard Horizon has had it now for four months. After calling weekly for the past month, they agreed to just send me a new radio. Then, last week, they advised they discovered they could fix it and would ship it out to me next week.

The given reason for the delay is Covid. I get that they must have had many people out sick. But holding on to a radio for four months seems excessive.

One last complaint to get off my chest. I could never get the radio to provide its AIS data to my also brand new Garmin 1242. So I brought in a local marine electronics guy. He couldn't get the two, Garmin and Standard Horizon, to communicate. He came back a week later with another guy from his shop that had some ideas. None of them panned out. In total they spent about eight hours trying to get the AIS data to show up on the Garmin.

Their conclusion was that, in their experience, you can have one newer Standard Horizon radio make the connection with a newer Garmin and another of the same model radio will not. This is a reputable local firm. They didn't charge me at all.

I've since completed the Rivers legs of the Great Loop where AIS was very helpful, even on a small VHF screen.

I've always been comfortable with Standard Horizon. But this one experience is not a positive one.

I have the same radio. I have AIS data going to my 4208 over NMEA0183. Works GREAT!
You must have Baud rate set to 38400 in radio(see below) and Chartplotter (You do this in Communications /NMEA0183setup /Port Type= NMEAHighSpeed)
You are setting an Rx (Input) port. Find the matching color wires for that port and connect to Grey(+) and Brown(-) from the GX2200.
I do NOT use the yellow and white wires. Not saying they won't work but... ?
Also, I do not input GPS data to the radio since it has a built-in gps

I just got a 1242xsv and will be setting this up on that some time before the spring thaw... I will let you know how it works.
Hopefully its just a matter of connecting the 1242 Brown RxA+ to GX2200 Tx +(out)(this is already connected to my 4208 RxA+) and the 1242 violet - to GX2200 Brown-

Regarding Standard Horizon (YAESU) service...
When I bought the boat it had an older model DSC VHF. I could not reset the MMSI#. Went online and they said "send it in and we'll try" . I spent a couple dollars to ship it the cheapest way.
Well, they could not do it. Something about "Worried we might break it if we try reloading firmware"
They sent it back no charge and I have it connected in the boat as a backup.
Could have saved me (and them) a couple dollars and time if the support guy knew what the repair guy knew...but hey, they tried....
