    New Enclosure

You can use the old one to temporarily mark the snap locations. Then I would go to the boat and install a snap in the center and work from there. As mentioned, ambient temp is important especially for clear vinyl. The canvas and vinyl will shrink when cold and the clear parts may not lay flat if...

Slipping my GW in these freezing temps

The ice eater is a big underwater fan in effect. Bubblers (air type) work when the water they bubble in warmer than the surface temps and not because they just move the water. In shallow water bubblers don't work very well For large hulls and depending on the depth of the water and the Ice...

Slipping my GW in these freezing temps

All true. I have read about the water passages but I have no hands-on experience with any of the V8 motors. I also think that on a lift, one would pull the drain plug and open all sea cocks to aid in draining and possibly flushing.

Slipping my GW in these freezing temps

Dennis, you made me think of something with your post which it seems you were composing the same time I was:) Even if the lift were ready and used, pretty much all of the same concerns and maintenance would have to be done. The need to monitor sea ice would be mostly eliminated.

Slipping my GW in these freezing temps

It's hard to reply since there is a lot that perhaps should have been done already. Have you had a freeze yet where you dock? Yes you have to drain and add/flush the fresh water system with antifreeze. Yes you have to treat the sanitary deice and the holding tank. You need to drain the water...

Fischer Panda Maintenance - Important item

Is your tank aluminum? Muriatic acid will etch aluminum and depending on how long it was in contact that will affect the amount of etching. I am not so sure using that acid is a good idea.

    Eisenglass??

You can try something like Plexus or a similar product but the reality is that if the UV layer is worn off, you will be able to polish the plastic and maybe make it look good for a while but it won't last. Many boaters use the wrong chemicals and unknowingly damage the UV coating. The key to...

    Wax/Polish in Cold Temp

As mentioned, you should follow the products directions. You should wash and dry the hull before any wax job. Hosing off the hull in cold temps can be uncomfortable and inconvenient. If you are getting antsy about the next season, look for other things that should be done and can be done...

That is true but I always wash the area with a detergent after using WD40. Same goes for the GoopOff. It is even messier to clean off.

    Yamaha OX66 or F225

Regarding costs to repair the exhaust; Yamaha was offering the parts kit at a steep discount for about $600 but I don't know if that is still offered. Without the special offer, parts run about $1800 if I remember correctly. If you are going to have the exhaust done, you should also replace the...

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

Update: The F225s do have a 'shift position switch' It could be out of adjustment, bad, or a wire is disconnected. This may be the part https://www.boats.net/product/yamaha/68F-8259F-00-00 I also read that there can error code in the YDS for a bad switch

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

I found several forums discussing a similar issue, hard to get into neutral. Most posts were about I/Os but the issue may apply. Some motors have a shift interrupter switch that basically cuts the motor off when you shift from a gear into neutral. The theory is that that pause reduces the...

Try acetone first if you have some. Nail polish contains acetone generally. If you don't have any get a small can or bottle of Goop Off. It's amazing what that stuff removes. WD-40 may also work. It is mostly a kerosene bases solution.

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

Interesting! That says that the lower unit had trouble getting out of gear but not into gear. I haven't seen such a case where it turned out it was the lower unit but I guess its possible. I am a bit stumped at this point and will see if I can find any info on the possible causes

    Possibly going to buy

I am not familiar wit that company. The kind of gold standard is the Tramex unit. It is expensive and trustworthy in the right hands. I would like to know if anyone else has experience with the Electrophysics models. Interpreting any readings can be a bit complex and experience is important...

When you get the decals off there is a good chance that you will see the outline of them on the bare hull. After all those years, the hull oxidizes and changes color but the parts under the decals don't. If the decals you want to remove are the thicker type, try to peel a little edge up and...

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

Having to rotate the prop is normal especially when shifting into reverse. That in itself is not a problem. Reconnect the shift cable and see if the shift shaft moves when the cable moves. You will need two sets of hands to do this correctly. Also check that the fitting that holds the cable to...

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

More likely it is a control cable issue. The reason I suspect that is the fact that it seems to get stuck at 2000 revs. The revs should be much lower before the control disengages the shift linkage. It could be something jammed at the motor, something jammed at the control or a jammed cable...
