    Refit of 2002 282 - It begins

The time has come and my 2002 F225’s with almost 2300 hours are ready to give up the ghost. It was either buy a newer Marlin or refit our girl. Since they don’t make these anymore, and a Marlin is too much boat most of the time, the refit has been decided upon. We love the layout and it suits...

    Vinyl bang cap source

Repowering my 2002 Sailfish with Suzuki DF250AP’s in 2 weeks. I’ve done a lot of searching on here already and seeing various results on the bang cap replacement. I think vinyl will be the way to go. I dont know where I’d source the stainless and I worry about stress cracks if I glass over. I...

    Replacing Bomar hatch 282

Replacing my old hatch with a new one. It was reseated once but now the gasket is shot and there is no replacement. Question, there is a foam strip in between the deck and the hatch. I don’t have a new one and don’t know what would be best aside from some weather stripping. Seems the profile...

    Water pump leak

I believe my water pump housing is leaking, yes I've seated the gaskets right, and used a gasket sealing grease. The motor will throw the overheat alarm if at trolling speeds for too long. There is some water in there when I drop the lower. This is a new lower unit, my only thought as of now is...

Hauling boat on trailer from Fl to Md

I’m adding a boat to my fleet, it is 25ft, 8’6”, beam and on a trailer. Weight including trailer is right around 4,000lbs. I need it pulled from Vero Beach, Fl to Annapolis. Tow and go as they say, no ramp stuff, parking lot to parking lot. Anyone have any tips/leads in this department?

    2002 Grady 282 - Brass Drain Tubes

I finally got a decent weather window and completed the repair of my transom drain tubes. Here are the crucial details: -Tubes are 1 1/4 in diameter, they were sold in 3 7/8 length only, i used a saw to cut to 3 3/16, which made a perfect flare - Once I removed the old tubes, popped them out...

2002 282 switch panel New Wire

Does anyone know what the top row of breakers is for? The rest seems pretty simple. I am doing a new panel with new wire marine and they suggested adding another block somewhere. Where? I don’t know, as there isn’t a ton of space. It looks like crap and the switches themselves aren’t reliable...

    Canvas for 282

I am replacing the sides of my enclosure on my 282. The quote is for 1800. $450 of which is materials. They are only doing the sides, so that’s four panels in total. There are two panels per side. I never use the rear and the front is newer and in ok shape. Thoughts on that pricing? I am in...

    2002 F225 Trim/Tilt Motor DB Electric

Anyone ever used these? About 1/5 the cost of the Yam replacement, i'm not expecting the same exact quality but then again it's not exactly the same price. Mine is corroded beyond belief. it was bad when i bought the boat a few years ago and i've nursed it along by painting it every year but...

2002 282 livewell and washdown hose replacement

Anyone ever had to tackle this job? My original black rubber hoses are cracking and probably starting to leak. Access is miserable for almost any job on a 282. How bad is this? I was considering just farming this out to my local marina. I had them do the scupper hoses and they did a great job...

New to me 1997 228G, Off Season PM

All, I'm new here but just acquired a 228G in Maryland. The boat is pretty clean, the only issue I've had is that the cover to the fuel tank is getting soft, but I knew that going in, so I have some projects lined up for this fall and want to see if there is anything else I just do based on...
