    Owners Manual PDF

As many here already know, Grady White offers PDF’s of all Owners Manuals. If your boat did not come with one or if you want a handy copy available on you phone or tablet, a copy is available for you at the below link. I use mine daily, lots of answers on those pages. Ps; this may have been...

    Freedom (I mean fishing) 4/25/20

Fishing this weekend. Receivers at Pier 39 are open and full of anchovy. The launch at Richmond marina is open. Halibut are being caught in the south bay, San Bruno and Alameda Rockwall. Unfortunately, the tides aren’t ideal.

    Through Hull Transducer Install

I installed an Airmar B75H transducer with 20 degree tilt a couple months back. Install went well. It’s always scary taking a holesaw to the hull. In a below water location, the fear is real. I watched the linked videos and followed a few tips making the install a breeze. Though hole...

    What’s better than two MFD’s?

Three! Need to clean up the wiring (I mean the whole boat), but just a 15’ N2K network cable and a t-connector tied into existing network and power to the battery and she works fine. Will be ideal for anchored bait fishing, halibut drifting and pretty much any trolling. The spare HDS 8 was...

    Seafarer Storage Ideas

Storage is sufficient for most of us on the Seafarer. Organized storage can be problematic. A small lockable single drawer under the port helm seat, small lockable compartment under the starboard helm seat. Radio box, electronics box, large compartments in the cockpit, all great storage but...

    The Mothball Fleet

Here’s a view of the famous Suisun Bay Mothball Fleet from the Grady. There were over 340 ships at anchor and up until 9 years ago, the Battleship Iowa was being stored here. It was towed to San Diego to become a museum. Today, there are 6 ships remaining. Earlier days of the Mothball Fleet...

    PFD

Received my EPIRB and registered it this morning. Did a test and all seems good. Got me thinking about other onboard safety equipment. During the many years of owning my small skiff (Boston Whaler 17 Montauk), the rule was wearing of life jackets was mandatory while on the ocean and optional...

    EPIRB?

Who has one? Which one did you choose, and why? Who has had to use one (or know someone that has) and how did that work out? PLB in addition to EPIRB or in place of? I’m leaning towards this one:

    Eventful Day

Took the boat into the shop for the motor’s twenty hour service. Chose not to return to the local shop that installed motor for numerous reasons including the fast 1week turnaround and the estimate of five to seven hundred dollars. A small shop in Lodi (smaller farmish town) about 60 miles due...

    Prop Saver

I added a Macs Prop Saver to the Yamaha T9.9 today. No worries of a downrigger cable or fishing line getting wrapped now. Pretty simple to do. Removed the old (2000) Standard Horizon VHF and antenna and installed a Lowrance Link-8 with AIS and a new Shakespeare 5225XT. Now just need to...

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.....

Not a Grady subject exactly. Being on call on your birthday kinda sucks, but is giving me time to clean and replace line on a few rods and reels. I am realizing that i may have a problem. The truth is every rod I have is necessary as is having an extra for a spare or when fishing two rods. I...

    2020 Yamaha F250 prop on 226

Got out yesterday to try to get through the 8 hour break in on new motor. At idle, I could barely hear the motor running. Ran motor just in gear for one hour. Gave me a chance to tune electronics, with the exception of the radar which I forgot to land the battery at the RI10 interface box...

    Adding Auxiliary Tank

After going back and forth on the future of fuel holding and boat balance for the 226, a decision has been reached. Gave serious thought to replacing the main and only tank currently rigged. The idea was have a new 92 gallon tank built and move the location forward to balance out the added...
