Life threw a Curve Ball & I Hit it Out of the Park.

Well Guys & Gals, I sold the Salty Dog (Seafarer) after 1 year. I'm currently boat-less but I am looking for a small jon or semi v hull to fish local lakes. Here's the story: Due to major budget cuts in the Fire Department last December they laid off 15 men. So 3 of us senior guys retired so...

    Hudson Stripers

Had the Salty Dog out today n the Hudson by Newburgh with a few friends, it was a long time waiting for the Stripers to bite but we ended up landing 6 small ones, and a few catfish. The water was rough with the wind and moving tide. But we had a lot of laughs and got the Salty Dog a little...

Can someone school me on the ZIncs and Anodes on my Seafarer. Yahama 225. The only thing I see is the one under the tilt/trim on the transom. Also while we're at it, which hole in the motor does the speedometer readings? Thanks, John

Maintenance Day -- Too late to cover.

Thought I would share some photos of the seal job I did. It went easy AFTER I had the right tools. Got the tarp a little too late too. Didn't get a chance to cover it yet. Getting hammered with snow today.

    Winterizing Tips Needed.

I have a 2006 Yamaha 225 4 stroke and a few questions: 1=Can I use the fogging oil mixed with gas to fog the engine OR should I use the spray fogging oil near the intake? 2- Flushing the fresh water (Sink/Washdown} I was thinking of using RV anti freeze and running both the sink and wash down...

    Sea Star leaking.

So I tried to make my own hydraulic hose attachment to drain and refill/bleed the Sea Star steering piston. A word of advice: BUY the Kit! I had oil everywhere, couldn't tighten the hose, it was just a mess. I ordered the Bubble Purge kit and will be doing it again this weekend. The shaft is in...

    Had a little scare today.

So i am going from the marina to the public launch to trailer the Salty Dog so I can take it to Long Island fishing when I get a chance and get it out of the yacht club for the season. My friend helps me pulling out of the slip at the Newburgh Yacht Club by pushing the stern outward, while I...

Installed a fan and small cabin light in the 'Dog

Every time we go use the boat, we get little ideas to make it more enjoyable. Used the fuse block under the dash for the fan. Easy install for the fan, used bolts instead of the screws that came with it. Gotta find a cell phone holder for the helm seat area. The passenger side was easy with the...

The new to me Seafarer fishing Curse is Over!

Ok so it's not a big fish or a Striper, and I was at the dock but at least I caught something on the new to me Seafarer. I was fishing off of Breakneck Mountain 50 miles up the Hudson today when a storm was rolling in. We took up anchor and headed back to the yacht club. Settled in and had a...

Sunshade Complete and a few questions.

Well the Dog' has a new sunshade for the dock. It's a fun themed Flamingo top with telescoping rear poles both from Amazon. Thanks Fells. The poles fit into the fishing rod holders and have the perfect angle, I just had to remove the rubber end caps from the poles. Each corner has a tie down...

1st Time Slipped in a Marina.

My new to me 2006 Seafarer is slipped in a Marina this year. When I used to trailer the 17' Mako I would flush the engine after each use. How do I do that being slipped? Do I use the hose attachment near the cowling? Can I flush it with the motor titled up? While I got ya here, do they make a...

    The Dog is ready!

Ok guys I'm ready to launch the Salty Dog Monday. I installed the Pro Mariner charger today and checked the bilge pump. Those were my last 2 things to do. Stripers are running and hopefully I'll be able to post some photos. Got a few questions for you Seafarer owners: 1- Replacement latches for...

    Help Fuel Line from Filter-Bulb-Motor.

Well going through the boat today I noticed the primer bulb was really hard and dry, also the hose that feeds it from the filter and the line going to the motor. I want to replace all 3 of these before I splash it next week. I measured the hose from the filter to the bulb 3/4"? then the bulb to...

    Rod Holders

With only 4 rod holders on my Seafarer I thought about putting a 3 or 4 pole rack on the fold down cutting board table on the 226. Has anyone done this before? Have photos? Or is there a better place? Thanks, John

2006 226 Seafarer on shoreline charger.

So my new to me Seafarer will be in a slip this year, is there a factory installed on board charger or was that an option? I haven't yet dissected the boat to find everything yet. If there is not one, where have you guys installed them? Photos? Thanks. John
