I am going to be checking out a 2004 Grady White 180 Sportster with a 2004 115hp Yamaha outboard engine (4 stroke). Electronics & 2017 Trailer included. Current owner has maintenance records. They are asking $16,500.

I am looking for info Pro's/Con's and things to look for when I go take a look at it.

I never owned a Grady before which is why I am looking for some input.

Great little boat!! I have a 2004 Sportsman 180. I have a 150HP Yamaha 4 stroke and honestly feel that a 115HP is a little under powered. This my opinion as I know two others with the 115 and wished they had the 150 which the maximum HP for that boat. I’ve never had any problems with jumping up on plane. I also have included pictures of my boat. I’m the second owner and purchased approximately eleven years ago. I owned a 2006 23ft SeaHunt before but the wife and I both think that Grady has a much better ride even though it’s five feet shorter. Again, our opinion. I have considered selling mine because I know of a 2016 Tidewater with a 300 Yamaha but just don’t like the cost involved !! Hope my opinions are a little help and good luck with your decision!!

I agree with Speasm. Where will you be boating? Ocean , lakes ? A 130 is probably minimal, a 150 is preferable. I have a buddy had the same setup and said the 115 was not entirely adequate and I can say with a 99 and a Salt water series 150 I’ve never been disappointed. As I mentioned on THT check the transom cap for any water intrusion. I dont think $16,500 is unreasonable. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Bob

I am close to Plymouth ma so most likely off the coast from there but also potentially off the coast of CT and regional lakes. I won’t be going far offshore when on the ocean.
