Hi All,

I came across a very clean 2004 tournament 205 located in Portland Maine. The seller is firm on his price of $29,500. I offered him $27,000, and he said no. I asked him to meet me in the middle and he said he just listed the boat and wanted $29,500. He even turned down and offer of $29,000, kinda shocked by that. He said the boat is really nice, he may drop the price if it doesn't sell by the end of the season.

It is a fresh water boat which is a plus and comes with new electronics, side curtains and a new Aluminum trailer he purchased this year. Yamaha 150 motor has 250 hours.

Do you think $29,500 is overpriced? I would hate to miss out on this one if it is worth it.

Thanks.

Here is the craigslist ad.

Wait until the end of the season. He'll come down. He's asking a lot for a 14 year old boat.

You'll need to have the transom checked out. Freshwater is worse than saltwater with respect to rot.

You'll also likely need to replace the harmonic balancers on the F150. That could cost you around $1000 unless you do it yourself. Figure all of that in your final offer.

You can find 10+ year old 205s all over the place in Florida for under $20,000.

Here is an example:

Thanks Doc Stressor, appreciate the advise. I agree, I think he has the for sale flag run up pretty high on the flagpole right now.

Probably had someone else chasing it and worked you both against each other. I think this is the right time to buy (or will be in the next month or so). People have to winterize and store is they don't move it and the boat is effectively one year older in the spring. Wait for your deal.
