Freedom 225
I am putting our Freedom 225 in a slip off the Nanticoke. It was never bottom painted. I decided to have painted, thinking the cost was about $800 but it ended up at $1500.

claimed price per foot is $12 but it need more coats top coat was white, more expensive than blue.

next time I have some work done I will ask for written estimate.

Unfortunately, that situation is all too common. Often a yard will be hesitant to give a guaranteed price since there can be unknowns but you can get a written estimate estimate that says that they need your OK if the 'new' estimate exceeds the original.

that may have been for a re-paint only. did they have to sand and barrier coat? multiple coats is time and product, so maybe the estimate was for a single coat?

Maybe but an honest shop would have contacted him to explain and get an OK. Just good business policy
