In my vacation rentals with hardwood floors we use Murphy oil . perhaps it will work on the cherry or teak sole in our boat?

Try Bona wood floor cleaner. If you want to coat it with something durable, use Bona Traffic HD. This stuff is made for wood floors, and is the best on the market. I used it on a teak sloe on a friends boat a couple years ago, and it looks new still. Go their website for video instructions.
