Garmin GPS maps

which is better the chip or the cd? for garmins? do you use separate charts or trust the charts on the gps?

the chip is sure convenient, i also carry charts on board. i like the larger scale of paper charts and you never know when the electronics will stop working

I use the chip. It was easy. It covers a wide area. The new garmin now has all the data pre-loaded; no need to buy the chip or CD. If you are buying new, that may be the way to go.
