I just sold my Grady and bought a Boston Whaler Montauk 17. Looking at the Whaler forums I see a lot of folks own both makes of boats. How many Grady guys have a Whaler also, or other brands of boats?

2004 Grady 265 Express and a 2008 150 Sport Whaler. I also restore 13 ft classic Whalers- working on #8 now. IMO, the quality of the Grady far surpasses that of the Whaler.

2004 Sailfish, had a 13 foot whaler with a 33, 40 Johnson and a 50 Merc. The boat was fast and fun although I still have a bad back to this day because of the slamming hull!

Would love to have a 13ft one like we had when I was a kid, but they are as expensive as a nice bass boat.. it is just too crazy.

2000 Grady 265 Express and 1976 17ft Montauk. Best of both worlds! Montauk has a 115hp 2 stroke and screams on the water, got her going 48mph the other day in a stiff wind. Love both boats, would only sell them for a large sportfish but currently content.

I have had 3 Whalers, 2 17 footers and 1 22 footer. Sold my Montauk last year to buy a Grady 208. I miss the simplicity of the 17 ft skiff , but am enjoying the space and comfort of the Adventure 208.

My big boat is a 305 express and I still have our childhood 1973 BW 13 which is currently awaiting a refresh over the winter.

Crazy thing when I sold my BW Montauk. I live in San Diego and a guy flew in from Hawaii, saw my whaler, bought it cash and had it shipped to Oahu! I do miss it and know that I will get another one at some point.....

I think both have had their downs and ups but are better than the mean boat. Today I believe they are both as good as they have been. I tend to like the layout of the Whaler DC and Express models. CCs about the same. The hull thickness of the Whaler I saw (a few years old) seemed awfully thin with foam sandwiched in between. Grady with the wood and wiring issues comes to mind.
