i am sorting thru gradys to take to virgin islands.....
will use to explore local waters, maybe go to puerto rico 30 miles
on open water maybe go down island 90 miles open water....
mostly for local waters........so what would you reccomend for
good gas economy and sea worthyness for those waters and
single or twin???
think 228 may be too small....islander maybe....
248/258 maybe about right??
what do you think?????...........dogz[/b]

I would go with the Islander if you can afford it. Bigger is always better when inclimate conditions arise unexpectedly. With the aux. fuel tank option you'll have 200g of fuel and plenty of range. I think twin engines are a must for any serious offshore cruising or fishing. If one motor breaks down, you have the second one to get you to the nearest port without having to rely on a tow service. It also gives you peace of mind and makes for much more relaxing cruising when you know you have that extra motor. With the Islander, you also get the benefit of the fully enclosed head compartment(wive's/girlfriends love this) while still being easily trailerable.
