Episode1:
On the home straight with detailing the 228. Decals going on next week. So I’m on my hands and knees re-caulking the floor panels and I hear a voice, not sure what was said.
Stood up.
“Sorry?“
“The boat, is it a Trophy?“
“No it’s a Grady White.“
“Aren’t they the same thing?“
“No.No they’re not.“

Episode 2:
Today. Decals still not on.
“What type of boat is that?”
“A Grady White.“
“That’s an American boat isn’t?“
“Yep.“
“So like a Trophy?“
“Aaaargh!“

Episode 3:
Coming soon.

I can see this happening. Back in '11, I guess your dollar was strong, I was buying and selling boats as a hobby. The big demand was for the Trophy. Any Trophy I bought at auction here in the states, the guys in the AU would snap them up. Actually any walkarounds in the 20'-23' range with no bottom paint would sell quickly. Never ran across any Grady's at auction, Seaswirl's, Robalo's, Trophy, seemed to be the auction boats. If a Grady did pop up, it would pretty much sell for retail, leaving no room to make any profit on the resale side.

Looks like GW needs to do some better marketing down under.
Curious, why is the Seafarer so popular their? Does Australia have width restrictions on the road less than 8'6"/2.6m?

The Trophy has that Aqua tinted curved windshield. That I always liked.

Yes. Wide load here is over 2.5m. So the Seafarer at 2.44m, you can tow without restrictions.

That’s basically the same here, 8’ for us (2.425m).
the trailer is always wider though.

I think everywhere in the US limits you to 8 feet. In California, at least, you can get a permit for stuff that is wider. My 228 is 8 feet so I don't know the details. If Alan Tani is on here, he's wider than 8 feet, he would know.

I wouldn't get too concerned, a lot of these boats look the same to some people that don't own or are familiar with various makes.
Could be worse... If he knew it was Grady, he just might say: Is that an older Grady cored with wood? I understand water gets into many of them and turns the coring to mush.
