Is there a "trick" to installing a nmea2000 device?

Trying to install the Garmin Steadycast. I THINK, I need a "T".. vs placing it at the end of the line.. going to try that, otherwise, not sure why it is not showing up as one of the devices.

Will take a picture when I head out there in a sec to update the software on the radar.

The only thing that goes on the ends of the bus are the terminating resistors. Every device and the power feed come in by "T" connectors. Lots of diagrams on line.

My original NMEA2K installation was simply in the helm area. I "extended" it aft to the transom when I connected the two F150s, and also connected separate water speed and water temperature (thermocouple), for a total of four "T" connectors aft. I "extended" the network to the electronics box to connect the NMEA2K for the VHF, as well as the LGC4000, which was replaced by an HS60 compass. As these 'extensions' were made, a terminating resistor was removed, a long cable attached to reach the new area, T's added as necessary, and the terminating resistor placed on the last "T".

Found the parts and fixed. The dang wifi on the garmin is junk...keeps going in and out...have to reset it if I disconnect or the iphone says bad password.

Never was a Garmin guy, or fan thereof. But lots of folks are..

Simrad was always my preference.

But I work on all of it, mostly doing upgrades for all the folks around here who think their six year old unit is just fine, and never heard of updating electronics.

Always been a Lowrance guy for bass fishing, garmin flippin charges for everything. New maps is at least 100 bucks, over 250 for good ones. I will upload my own if need be, but to keep it simple, kept it all Garmin since it already had the 7610
