I'm ready to replace the Raymarine C120 (w/ DSM 300 and 50/200kHz thru-hull transducer) on my 2005 282 Sailfish. Has anyone installed the Simrad NSS12 EVO3s on this boat? If so, what transducer(s) did you install? I fish the lower Chesapeake bay and offshore Virginia waters. I'm also looking at the Garmin GPSMAP 8612xsv.

I just installed a 8612xsv and GT51M-TH ClearVu/SideVu/CHIRP transducer. Also kept my B744 50/200 traditional transducer.

Garmin makes a 6-pin to 8-pin adaptor. You may be able to use your existing transducer with this adaptor. I used it on mine.

You should consider adding a CHIRP or ClearVu/SideVu/CHIRP transducer. 8612xsv supports 2 transducers.

I also have a 943xsv in the overhead electronics box. The 1243xsv is a less expensive alternative if lower screen resolution is acceptable. Only one transducer is supported on these models. This only matters if you are networking displays and want to use a different transducer on different displays.

I learned the hard way that transducers have a life span. My 2005 died last year. Best to just replace it while you’re upgrading. Worth it in the long run.

If he can "save" the old transducer for 50/200 its worth it. I wouldn't buy a new one - spend the money on a CHIRP. The Garmin units can support two transducers. Unless he wants to reuse the same hole.

Where did you mount the GT51M-TH ClearVu/SideVu/CHIRP transducer? My existing B774 50/200 thru-hull on my 282 Sailfish is located on the starboard side of centerline. The deadrise at transom on my boat is 20.5 deg and I'm not sure where to mount the GT51M-TH so that the SideVu will work. Their literature would indicate that it's for hull deadrises less than 5 degrees.

I'm continuing to research transducer options and it appears that the B785M xducer chirp (single band, medium frequency: 80-130 kHz) will install in the same hull hole / fairing block where my current traditional dual frequency 50/200 kHz is installed. I can't locate the ID tag on my current transducer, it appears to be missing, but it I believe it's the B774V (50/200 kHzwith speed paddle and temp) or the long stem version B774VL. Does anyone with a 282 Sailfish know whether it's likely the B774V or the B774VL? The transducer is mounted outside of the starboard side wall of the transom sump. And has anyone installed the B785M...is this a good option for for bottom fishing anywhere from 15 to 350 ft ?

I located the ID tag and confirmed I have a B774V transducer originally installed on my boat. Looking for anyone with experience with the new B785M (80-135 kHz) chirp transducer, particularly for bottom fishing / wrecks anywhere from 30-350' of water.
