Ladies & Gentlemen,

Removed nuts and bolts from windshield mounted, Perko Pole Light Base.

It is not possible to get enough wire out of the windshield channel to rewire the new base.

It seems as though you need to disassemble the windshield to get at the wiring which runs through windshield channel :hmm .

Please help!

All constructive thoughts on how to get this done are welcome!

Thanks for reading!

Rob

PS...the base is cracked in two just above the bottom two bolts.

that Pole Light Base cost a lot of $$ I think one is for sale on e-bay. Not sure how to fix that. I will look at mine on Monday

Just thinking outloud... Is there enough that you could splice a piece in? I know this isn't optimal, but neither is taking the windshield apart either...

Thanks Guys,

I bought the part before trying to remove and replace; $39.79 plus shipping.

Just too tight to get enough slack in the power line to splice electric and push back into the windshield channel. The extra width of electrical connectors or tape wrap, will not fit back into the existing hole.

The cracked base holds the light up, but, just fear it will fail when I need it most.

I emailed GW factory and will post thier reply.

Can you reach the wires from the entry end to the channel? Might be able to splice in a piece there ... :?

Hey Guys,

One must respect the support that the GW factory provides. Here is thier knowledgeable reply to my mast head light issue...

"Reaching the wire may require removing the top metal member of the windshield
frame. There will be just a few screws to remove in order to pull this section
of frame off. With this removed you then should be able to reach and pull the
wire up".

I'll let you know how it goes when done.

Followed the GW factory advice and the changeout went well. Removed both of the starboard windshield top moldings and got it done.
