Well I have to admit I was extremely nervous cutting this out. The template showed it would just overlap a slight bit and wouldn’t sit entirely flush. A friend of mine and I looked at it and thought it would still fit in nice enough thought it would be over top of the VHF just a bit.

I had been back and forth if I was going to get a smaller unit to put in or just live with the old one or try to squeeze this in. Well I decided to go for it. Got it in and siliconed around. I’m actually quite happy with it and the little tilt from the angle helps it sit perfect to be able to see the unit even better. There is a slight gap on the side but it is hardly noticeable unless you are looking for it. And I have siliconed it in well so hopefully it is water right.

I know it’s not a professional job but I’m happy with it. I might go from the backside and apply some more marine sealant as well.

What do you guys think?
