Hey folks. As I continue to pick away at the details of my 1984 seafarer restoration, I am looking at the fishboxes that are under the seats on the port and starboard sides. I don't see a seal around them. It's the edge of the lid gelcoat resting on the base gelcoat...and causing wear. I sanded and applied some gelcoat to take care of worn spots, but don't want the same wear occurring. I was thinking of purchasing some rubber or higher durometer foam with adhesive on one side. How thick...will need to test? Install on the lid or the box flange?

Curious, did early 80's models of this boat have some type of seal around them?

Thanks in advance.
