WTB Grady White 265 , 282 or 300.

Just got back from Hampton bays and looked at a 265. I really thought this was the one by the photos.
I even bought the full amount in $100 dollar bills! She was really showing her age and then some! So much salt corrosion on the hard top aluminum and the top of the fuel tanks. The transom metal plate was really corroded and you could actually see the delamination in the transom, it was swelled out beyond the metal plate and had cracks.
Also the hour meter ,the refrigerator and other things did not work and the gelcoat was really faded!...! I am disappointed because I really like the layout of the 265 and the size.
Looks like I may just buy a newer boat and forget about the 265...I will keep looking but my hopes are diminishing for this OLD tired girl....

Last summer I ended up buying a beautiful low hour Edgewater 268CC twin Yamaha 4.2L 250HP with only 540 hours...I love the boat but my wife does not...I am looking for a cabin again...

Good luck! I spent about a year looking for my 282, last ones of which are now 14 years old. Not an easy boat to find, but easier than the 265 which i tried for then gave up due to lack of availability. Saw a nice one on the chesapeake two weeks ago anchored up at Lowes Wharf.

Yes I know and agree...I will probably end up with a Marlin for those reasons...especially since I want the newer Yamaha 4.2 motors over the older 3.3's. I don't mind having to repower an older 265 or 282 but everyone I looked at last year had Transom delamination issues...so a newer Marlin is the way to go...

We'd like to have a new boat as well, this has been a discussion for us lately, started by the Admiral of all people, for all the reasons one would want a new boat. Unfortunately, they don't make the 282, so it would have to be a Marlin. To me, the Marlin is more boat than I need most of the time, but some days it would be nice. Especially when my son and I do overnight fishing trips. Plus I'd like to have the new motors, but for what I have into her, my current boat is an absolute steal. I owe nothing, it runs great, and I have it right where I want it for a 20 year old boat. My plan is to just linger around and be opportunistic when all these new boat people decide they don't want to be boat people and mfg are in a position to move some product. Either I get a deal or keep my current deal.
