Hey green, if you are forward of the scoop and using a fairing block turbulence will not be an issue for the ducer. I would keep it as close as possible with about 1/2" gap between fairing block (unless you have a flush mount ducer then you need a lot more distance) and scoop cover. This way you can apply a sealant to the entire perimeter when install is complete and you can still replace the scoop if necessary. If you have a flush mount ducer you've got to call the manufacturer or you're just gambling. Good luck I just went through a similar procedure. -Jack
