I have a 180 Sportsman with a 2000 Yamaha F115TXRY and looking to repower. Would a 2005 Yamaha 150 be a direct swap? Would electronics and everything still work? Looking for any pointers. Thanks!

What model is the 2005 motor?
I just asked him. I do know it has a 25 inch shaft like my current one. It also looks identical and isn’t a SHO or anything.

Assuming the newer motor is a 4 stroke also, I would think the wiring and gauges would be usable, hopefully without the need for any conversions cables

Oh it is a 4 stroke. So should be a direct swap?

I am not certain. You need to compare the harness connectors at the motor. At some point in time, they changed but I don't know when. In some cases, if the connectors were different, there was a converter cable that allows connection of the newer motor connector to the older helm harness connector.
