top speed 86 offshore24 with twins?

I had a 95 252 Sailfish with twin 175's. Your speeds are exactly where mine were. Compaired to other boat manufactures the Grady's are fairly heavy, and are not speed boats

ocean runner 200 stalls at idle - experience?

I had a pare of the same motors that would stall all of the time at low rpm's. The olde carb engines had a a cut out for 2 cylinders for fuel savings at idle. I had to have the cylinder cut out wiring removed so that my motors stayed running. I tried increasing the idle speed but that didn't...

    What bottom paint?

I have used Pettet Hydrocoat with great success. I paint the bottom a 2 coat job and it lasts 3 seasons. I repaint the bottom when I can see the different color of the base coat. In my area the regular paint works great. I never have an issue with slime or grass that requires the more expensive...

    Props for Z200's

Yes they were. Any good prop shop can do the work for you. Mine cost about $250.00 to do as there were no other repairs that were needed.

    Offshore Fishing Outboard Question

I shut down. I also carry a fully charged battery jumper box. I only needed it one time for someone else's boat. The boat with the dead battery was an inboard.

    Props for Z200's

My Grady 272 Sailfish has twin HPDI 200 yamaha power. I went up from 17 to 19 pitch and added a small amount of cup. My RPMs dropped down 350 rpm to 5400 and the boat picked up 2.75 mph. My boat is bigger and heavier than yours but the motors seemed tochange like the prop change. I did not...

Finding a Grady-so many to choose from??

I agree. The 272 is the answer. I replaced my 2 strokes with 200 hp HPDI 2 strokes. Made a great difference on fuel and oil burn economy. Everything else meets your requirements. No mine is not foe sale, I love it to much.

    Petit Hydrocoat

I have used Pettit Hydrocoat for many years with great success. I 2 coat the bottom every 2 to 3 years depending if I can see the base coat color showing through the blue. 1 super precaution to take,--- DO NOT LET THE BOAT YARD PRESSURE WASH THE BOTTOM! When you are ready to repaint then...

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

I have a 272 and like everything about it except 2 things that to me were a design flaw. -- Oil fill . I cannot see the tank/ fill pipe so I am constantly getting some 2 stroke oil spilled into the motor well that has open scuppers. 2 I would prefer to have the boarding ladder on the Starboard...

    Repower GW 272 Sailfish (94)

I re-powered my 95 272 with 200 hp HPDI motors. I love the combination and I feel that the 150's would be underpowered.

    repowering 98 sailfish

Chuckr: Sorry to get back to you so late. I had OX66 200 motors and switched to 200 HPDI motors. I went from 1.4 to 1.8 mpg at 3500 rpm and reduced my oil usage by 40% using the same props. I normally cruise at 3200 or 3500 rpms and get 24mph and 28mph. At WOT 5400 rpms I am going about 37 to 38...

REPOWER: Time for new outboards???? Need advice

I went to 200 hp HPDI. I actually got better speed at all rpm's, 1 half of the oil usage, and much better economy, and reused the same transom holes and all of the old engine controls.

Cruising Chesapeake in January - advice?

Wear your long johns and watch out for the chop. The bay is wide but shallow so the waves have a very short period for their height.

    Re-powering 1996 Sailfish 272

I have the same boat, but I went with twin Yamaha HPDI 200 hp motors. I also beat the 282's with the 225 hp motors and I was able to reuse all of my controls and gauges. That alone saved me $2500.00 for the switch out. I love this combination. I have cut my oil usage in half and picked up .4 mpg...

    sailfish power comparision

I had twin OX66 200 hp motors and replaced them with HPDI 200 hps. There was a major improvement in speed and better fuel and oil economy at any and every RPM. I would recommend the HPDI 200's any day. I know guys with the old carbed 225 motors that don't do as good as mine with the HPDIs

    Trimming the sailfish 272

I have never had a problem with keeping my 272 on trim. It needs a small amount of trim as people move around and everyone sits on one side, but what small boat doesn't need its trim adjusted?
