How hard was the EOH conversion? I am thinking of doing the same thing with my Loadrite, I watched a video by Hydrastar and it seems pretty straight forward but of course they are selling the systems so I doubt the would point out the downside.

That jelly like substance is called ester and it from the moisture in the transom mixing with the metal/greenwood and causing a chemical reaction. It also emits a gas which will cause some pitting and perforations in the transom cap which is very common with these boats as it is emitted out the top.

In the last picture your transom plate seems cracked or welded in the middle. Was there a repair made there?

This is what you may find. In which case a transom rebuild is most likely on the agenda at some point.

This looks like a Grady 272? Can you check the stringers in the transom where they connect? That would be a good indicator as well.

I am contemplating that on my next purchase, looking at a Grady out of the NE since all the Florida boats I look at are soaked in the transom. Did you drive from the west to the east and back or did you fly out and rent a truck for the drive home? What you are proposing makes a lot of sense...
