    330 express 15 or 9.9hp kicker

9.9 should be fine. Get a high thrust model and go for remote steering. Gradys ride low aft so the less weight on the transom the better. I've used the 9.9 on my Marlin in an emergency and it got me home at about 5 knots at 80% throttle. For those on the east coast, salmon fishing on the west...

    Hurricane Sandy

I'm sitting here at work watching it on CNN. Hope everyone is safe and sound. Stuff can be replaced not people. Storms like this makes the westcoast rain seem easy.

    down rigger install

Aft of the rodholders. On my Marlin I mounted them at "corner" of the gunnel and the transom. I use the rod holders on the downriggers. I double stack rods some of the time and havent had too many problems. I use a tie-bar steering set up and don't really like it. I'd rather have independant...

    door under sink on marlin

I made my own out of black acrylic. It's about a 8.5/10. I used the original as a pattern and heated it and bent it into shape. If you're reluctant take the busted pieces into an industrial plastics shop.

Adding raw water washdown to a 180....

http://www.shurflo.com/marine-products/ ... fault.html You're going to need a pump. My Grady uses Shurflo like in the link above. The next bit is access to a thru hull. I would use a "Y" valve in order to divert off an existing one rather than drill a new hole is my bottom. Then you're going to...

outboards not all the way out ?

I have a '92 marlin with 2 strokes and mine are in the water. If you are not using the boat every day a good trick is put a few hundred pounds of weight forward. I have a huge cooler I put forward and fill it with water. Engines come nearly clear then. I like to keep my fuel tanks full which...

Fuel sending unit 1993 209 Escape frozen screws HELP

I've posted on this before. Stainless screws in an aluminum tank basically welds the screws in. Try a cordless impact drill will an easy-out bit and if they break off drill and tap new holes. Just turn the sending unit an inch or so and drill new holes. Use a cordless (sparkless) drill and keep...

Microwave replacement for 2004 330 Express

Basically take the outside dimension measurements and note how many watts it is, go to your favourite discount outlet and buy one that is within 50 watts of the same power (don't go lower), fits the hole and has the features you like. Little microwaves are cheap as heck and disposable. As long...

Grady White Craziness on the Hull Truth...

THT is a free for all. It can be fun but you can't take it all seriously. Grady's particularly older ones have their faults. I own a '92 Marlin and I think I've dealt with them all. If I could afford another boat right now I'd buy a +2009 33 Express in a heart beat. They fixed a lot of what I...

Where to put a dingy on my 282 Sailfish

I have a Marlin and keep an 8'6" West Marine dingy with a soft floor on the hard top. I have a 4 hp Mercury four stroke with the built in gas tank. I bought web material about 2" and put brackets that look like little cupboard handles and clips like on a back pack (terrible descriptions I know)...

C 120 what is going on here?

Check your voltage to the unit. I have a c80 and over time I have found that if you have a low charge or a failing battery this can happen.

    Outboard to I/O Conversion

What year Sailfish? 2-Strokes or 4-Strokes? Your engines have some value as parts engines/rebuild cores. Maybe buy a pair of used 2-strokes with modest hours. Ripping up your deck and building up stringers and engine boxes to mount inferior power plus cutting your transom for legs doesn't seem...

    Fresh water pressure and pump

These are simple systems to check. Tank is under the aft berth. Pump and hot water tank are behind panel on port side. Check a) tank has water (duh) b) check your filters c) pull panel and turn on pump and look for leaks (with all taps closed) The pump has a pressure switch and will turn off...

    Marlin Hull Value

Are you capable of doing all this rigging yourself? I have done a number of salvage cars in my day. Lets say a Marlin with a salavage title with new motors is worth $70,000. Look on boats.com and look at the price of 2000-2005 Marlins with low hours 4 strokes for comparables. If new power is...

    Batteries on a 2006 marlin 250 hp

I just change mine every 5 years. Saves the hassle of crappy batteries and failure. I changed two batteries one year and the next two the following year. Maxium life is maybe 7. Take them and use them in a less critical application or trade them in.
