316 fender washers, that top part of the transom is pretty sturdy with thick glass and wood. I didn’t really feel a backing plate was necessary.

I went with the 0 deg as I have adjustable butt rods I use in those locations.

What year is your gulfstream, I have a ‘07 and bought the same speakers as you. They won’t fit in the fish box inspection plates, I also scraped away all the insulating foam to the fiberglass, and still won’t sit flush.
