This may not help you much...but just to give you an idea...our Chase is powered by twin 225 OX66s. A single 250 to me sounds painful to me too.

I don't want to put a rod holder...if I decide to do it any further back than the factory ones...due to the reach that you mention. It can be a true pain in the a$$ when trying to clip in the planer on the bridle. What I was curious about is maybe putting it just forward of the aft rod holder...

Hey man I appreciate that link. Those are actually the exact ones that I already have in my two port and starboard rear rod holders. They work like a champ. I was just curious about adding a Lee Swivel Rod holder on the port side between the forward and aft Rod holder that the factory puts in.

Did you add the 15 degree swivel Rod holders yourself? Which brand did you go with?

Guys I'm just curious if any of you have added a swivel rod holder to your boats to accomodate pulling a planer rod and allow for rod movement when trolling? I have a 273 Chase and have added aluminum backing plates to both of the rear port and starboard rod holders and have put swivel inserts...

Guess I'll be the first one to chime in supporting the CC side. I currently have the Chase 273 and wouldn't trade it for anything....except maybe a Bimini 306. The boat is a hands down fishing machine and is a "big boat". The ride is very soft and comfortable...depending on how you run a boat...

@"seasick" I was just simply sharing my experience with pretty much the same motors that the OP has on his boat. I do find it funny how you claim that an O2 sensor wouldn't cause it to surge, however, that has been the culprit of the problem on my boat on two different occasions now. Anyhow...

In all the years we have been using the Lemon Pledge I have never seen any type of residue at all. It leaves them water spot free and keeps them in pristine condition. Granted...everyone had their own remedies of doing things...I am just sharing what has worked great for us.

If you get your curtains re-done...after washing the boat down and drying everything off...use Lemon Pledge. No...that is not a typo...we used this on our 232 Gulfstream back in the early 90s to late 90s and we then had a 24 Fisherman and now have a 273 Chase and that is what I use on them all...

I have twin 225s on my 273 Chase...and this has occured a couple of times with me. I can tell you...a lot of the time it is a clogged o2 sensor. If your fix doesn't work...I would pull the O2 sensor and clean it.

Looking at a Si-Tex AP110 autopilot system for my 273 Chase. Does anyone have any feedback about the Si-Tex brand or this particular model? :hmm
