Andrew. At least you have the truck for the job. My main concern would be tires. I always upgrade my tow vehicle rims and tires. Wider, more plys, and stiffer sidewalls. Check the code on the sidewall.

But they will finance a 1996 boat that is twice as much?

Yes. I have the same set up. And I can not seem to tighten down to stop the swivel. Just increase the drag.

I purchased a venture 8800 from enterprise marine on tht. A little overkill for my 268 Islander but I would rather have more trailer than less.
