    Grady 258 & 282 input

Hi, I think the 258 is a great choice with either motor setup. I have the f250. For me the only time I really only think of twins is pulling into my slip with a crosswind blowing. Again, for me its just a matter of one more leg of a "K turn"...and that gets easier the more I do it. I also really...

want general advice on 22 seafarer

Hi, great info on a great boat choice. I had the 228 for 18 yrs and did repower to a 4 stroke. (225 to 225). The 4 stroke is a dream but the extra weight did alter the boats manners...mostly low speed plane speeds. Since you're lookng at a range of years I'd include a SV2 hull with a 200 hp...

    want to add hard top

Hi , I once added a used one and found that a good fit is difficult unless it's the same model. I can vouch for pacific yacht tower, they are ten miles away and good people, though abit farther for you...........Tom

    Grady 22 and 24 questions....

Hi, as you are including 24's in your search I would look hard at them. More of the 24's had twins so they can better handle more 4 stroke weight. They are about the same length as a 22 with a bracket. Find one with a single with the reworked scuppers and they will more likely be above the...

    Trailer sources and prefered manufacturers

If you go new it's easier to go the 20-25% heavier capacity that most recommend. If your around fresh water a used one could be a reasonable option.........Tom

Tackle and Rod Storage in Journey 258

Congrats on your 258 choice...here's some thoughts...For the in-cabin trolling rods I lined up two shorter ones in place in the rod holders, made a mark, then drilled approx 2" holes with a hole saw into the anchor locker area. Put some paint on the bare wood then insert a plastic cable guide...

    228 vs. 226

There was some fine posting on this recently by DocStresser that's worth reading. I had the 228 for many years and agree with the above.........

    Hard top market

Hi, I'm late to the party but want to add that the HT makes for a much safer boat due to all of the additional hand-holds it brings with it. If you find another I would try it for a season before you decide.......(barn remodel ????)

    boat leans to Port

prop Big motors turning big props can cause this to appear. Since your not getting top rpms find someone that will let you try smaller props. Aftermarket preminum stainless props with more cupping might allow you to go smallest with the best performance...........good luck

    208 vs 228

22 Hi, after 2 twenty's, a twentytwo and now a 258 I'm always reminded how much difference only 2 feet make. Determine which one you really want (4stroke/hardtop) then go find one in this buyers market........

    Brief sudden power loss

I've seen this happen as you describe. It's the second water separator on top of the motor. If it acumulates too much water it causes this to happen, easy fix once you find it.........Tom

    Leaving boat in water....

bottom The more the boat is used the less buildup there is, except perhaps along the waterline edge. I would guess it gets plenty of use during vacation week............Tom
