    Upholstery paint

On my 282 Sailfish, the top of the cushioned pad that surrounds the cockpit has weathered in the California sun. Instead of being off-white it's now a peculiar Tuna barf yellow. SEM makes really good upholstery paint, especially if you use their primer, but I don't know the color. Anybody know...

Deck drain inserts - where to find replacement part?

Vince, I recall a prior thread, search for cockpit drain, someone found an elegant solution. The only issue is you need to remove the drain (underneath the cockpit) and apparently the Port ones are a misery to replace due to the location of the aft sink.

    Old bottom paint removal

I went down to my local yard with pretty much the same questions, they said they use a chemical stripper (where was she when I was in college?) instead of media blasting because it's gentler on the hull and fairly quick - they roll it on and let it work. I have no idea if it's faster or not...

    2002 282 Sailfish re-power question

This is an older thread, but worth a shot - why are you repowering after only 1200 hours? I'm assuming there's some sort of corrosion damage.

    Cockpit bolster vinyl aging

My cockpit bolsters are white and in great shape but the very top of them is turning brown. I looked closely and it appears that due to the sun the vinyl is losing its color. Other than replacing them, does anyone know if GW makes an upholstery paint for Sailfish?

    282 Sailfish V-berth slope

Kyle, I've never stayed the night on mine but I don't recall anything approaching an annoying slope - what engines do you have on your boat?

    Anchor windlass speed

Yes, good suggestion to check the connections and contacts, I'll last out the summer (usually that runs into October). Rope is 1/2".

    Anchor windlass speed

Dennis, the finger spring looks good, batteries (3) are brand new this summer, engines in neutral and running at 1000 rpm. I'm guessing 62'/min is a no load speed especially for what appears to be a lower priced model. We hover over the anchor, the rode or chain is straight down.

    Anchor windlass speed

On my 2003 Sailfish the windlass is a Horizon 500, I don't know if it's the original windlass but I'm not thrilled with it. One of the reasons is that it supposedly can raise the anchor at the rate of 62' a minute and whereas I haven't measured, I'd be willing to bet it's far short. The other...

    Livewell pump popped a breaker

It has one of those bronze screens on the hull and it was clean. It's possible, since I vaguely remember bits of kelp wandering by, that the pump may have sucked a piece onto the screen for a few minutes. In Southern California we have these giant kelp forests and they deteriorate during the...

    Livewell pump popped a breaker

Didn't think of that! Thanks, I'll check.

    Livewell pump popped a breaker

On a trip to Catalina this weekend, about an hour after we stopped to stock up on Sardines, the livewell pump popped a breaker. I didn't notice anything at the time until we looked in the livewell and saw the water level was about two inches too low and the bait was lethargic. I turned the...

    Removing the bottom paint

When I purchased my 282 Sailfish last year, bottom paint had already been applied. As I store the boat on a trailer, I don't need it. Recently I noticed there were a couple of small areas where the bottom paint had flaked off, and to my surprise there wasn't any gel coat underneath. It looks...
