    Matching (or close) Bottom Paint

FWIW- My current boat came with nasty old bottom paint. If I ever get around to removing it, I’d go back with VC Performance. But that also looks like a lot more prep than what I did before rolling on the Vivid.

    Matching (or close) Bottom Paint

I had Vivid on my last boat. Can’t help with color, it was black. It was a perfectly fine bottom paint. Looked much better than the typical chalky ablative stuff. Boat was trailered and no issues with it over 6-7ish years. Still looked good when I sold it.

    Trailer tires?

I’ve had the GY Endurance tires in my camper for probably 5 or 6 years now. They’ve been great. I didn’t spend the money on the boat trailer tires simply because it weighs considerably less than the camper and sees far fewer miles. I ended up buying some shop brand tires.

    best anchor for freedom 192

Anchor is fine. 2ish feet of crappy chain is not. I’ll put more chain on it and I’ve no doubt it’ll be gtg. Thx.

    best anchor for freedom 192

Went and checked this AM. 8# fluke/danforth anchor and maybe 2 1/2’ of skimpy chain. The anchor is GTG. Definitely need more chain!

    best anchor for freedom 192

My 192 came to me with a Danforth style anchor. It is quite light, 8-10#’s? I’ll have to see if it’s stamped They do work very well in soft bottoms. Biggest issue I have had is due to simply a lack of chain. I’ve maybe 5’ of light, rubber coated chain. I am going to replace it with at least...

Thanks all! Great info. I’ll get back into it tomorrow and see what I can sort out.

Yamaha 175 2stroke- Hard to start.

s175txrw is the model. 1998 The choke is just the manual lever on the engine. The key does not seem to have a choke function. A fairly quick inspection and everything looked good but I’m pretty sure the choke is not functioning properly. I’ll pull the cover again tomorrow and see if I have...

Yamaha 175 2stroke- Hard to start.

3-400. I’d have to go look again, but it’s a pretty low hour motor. Never rebuilt to my knowledge. It is new to me though. Motor sat for years. Like 14 or 15 years. It had been winterized thankfully. Carbs and bowls drained, fuel tank drained. I replaced fluids and fuel lines, filters, etc…...

Yamaha 175 2stroke- Hard to start.

Hi folks- Motor is a 1998 175 carbed 2stroke. Trouble I’m having is starting while cold. Typically, I pump bulb, pull out choke on front of motor, advance throttle in neutral maybe 1/4 way, and turn it over. usually get a stumbling start in the first turn or so then it simply dies and...

    Fuel tanks

Surprised these later model boats have aluminum tanks? Pretty sure I recently saw where GW went poly around ‘98, and mine for sure is poly. Maybe it’s just the smaller boats/tanks, like my 192 60gal?

SS- I did indeed bypass the filter/separator to run on the remote tank. When I hooked it up to the main tank I filled the new filter with gas before spinning it on and pumped the bejeebus out of the bulb Hopefully next time she lights off a little quicker. May need to work on my 2stroke...

Got the Baby Grady out on the lake today! New fluids and filters, lubed up the cylinders with some 2stroke oil, little carb cleaning and confirmed the oil tank pump worked. A fresh set of plugs and started it off a remote tank of premix in the yard. Ran like a champ! Checked the tank, which...

    Fuel tanks

As mentioned , your tank should be poly. I just picked up a ‘98 Tournament and it’s poly. I think 98 was the year they switched from aluminum.

Oi. Haven’t registered it yet. I don’t remember what they hit me for when I registered my vehicles. Just that they were less than helpful. I suppose I’ll find out soon enough.
