brass thru hull scuppers 92 voyager

I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. The brass tubes were available at the first place I checked (boathouse Marine). I believe they were 1" X 3", but I checked them by sticking my finger in them on my boat, and then at the store - perfect match. This same place rented the flaring tool for...

    fuel tank leak in overnighter

I replaced mine on my 87 overnighter a few years back. The tank came out whole after removing the access panel above it, without having to cut any fiberglass. It was tight, but I was able to wiggle it out. Once out, it had the OEM tag on it, which was an aluminum mfg company in Perry, FL. I...

    Outboard Smoke

I had the same problem on a 1987 Evinrude 140 I use to have. Once it got to the embarassing point, I changed the VRO pump and that fixed it. It really was pretty easy to change, so may want to consider DIY.

    Fuel Tank Replacement

I replaced mine a few years back. RDS Manufacturing (www.rdsaluminum.com) in Perry FL was the OEM tank manufacturer (actually I believe they had changed names or something over the years). They had the drawings available and sent me a copy to confirm it matched my tank. Had it manufactured...

    electrical problem?

Sounds like your trim motor to me. Your engine tilt pivot point isn't gummed up is it (dried up grease causing the tilt motor to work too hard)? If the tilt works normal sometimes, it sounds like it is probably OK. I haven't pulled a tilt motor in many years, so don't remember what is...

    20 Overnighter- repower question

I repowered from a (1987) Evinrude 140 to a (2002) Yamaha 200 HPDI. The 140 would run about 30 - 35 under good conditions, but really struggled to get on plane (especially when heavy). The 200 is a huge difference jumping on plane & the speed is there if I want it. It will go 50+, although I...

    Through Hull Fitting Size?

I'd be interested what you come up with if you don't mind. I have wanted to replace mine on my 87 Overnighter, but have kept putting it off. I recall some threads talking about gaining access to some of the hoses/hose replacement being a big pain. Also, where on-line would be the best place...

    Orig Fuel Tank Manuf.

I replaced mine a few years back on a 1987 Overnighter. The OEM had changed names, but was the same company. It is RDS Manufacturing in Perry, FL http://www.rdsaluminum.com/. They e-mailed me the drawing & I compared to make sure everything was the same. Had it shipped & no problems.

    gas tank replacement overnighter

You shouldn't have to cut anything (assuming ours are nearly identical). I replaced mine (65 Gal. also) on my 1987 overnighter a few years back. With the deck plate removed above the tank, I was able to pull it up and out with little problem. It was a pretty tight fit though, but picking up...

    Work while replacing fuel tank

When I replaced mine a couple years ago, (in addition to all hoses) I also primer'd the botoom half of the new tank with zinc chromate primer. The first tank lasted 20+ years, so can't really complain. But, the only bad corrosion was on the bottom. So figured some primer may get me 25 out of...

    I smell gas

I'm not familiar with your model, but I had a similar issue which turned out to be a leaking tank. Yours being a 2001 sounds a little early to be having tank problems. But, the tank compartment is sealed off from the bilge (to contain any leaks and keep it out of the bilge). On mine (1987...

    New Fuel Tanks and lines

I replaced mine (1987 Overnighter) a few years ago. Not too bad of a job, and you can take your time and do things right. I got my tank from RDS in Perry, Fl. I found them by searching the ID Tag that was on my original tank. I think they changed names since then, but were the OEM of the...

Can't figure out how water is getting into my 208

I have a 1987 Overnighter that had similar issue. It ended up being the plastic thru-hulls for the free-bailing deck ports. There were cracks in both of them, and the cracks were in the exact same place (right on the inside where they came thru the hull). SInce the cracks were identical...

    SHUT DOWN PROCEDURE

I had a 1987 Evinrude that I ran for 15 years. On it, when I got home I would run it on the hose/earmuffs for about 10 - 15 minutes & then turn off the fuel shut-off valve and run until it ran out of gas. Never had any issues with that, although I heard various opinions whether that was the...

    Boat Creak/Pop

BobP, you are probably right. I don't believe there are any serious issues going on, just some annoying binding or rubbing of two pieces wood/fiberglass. Really though, the noise can be very annoying at times. A loud pop on every chop in the right (or wrong) conditions. A 10 - 15 mile trip...
