    The Oil Slick...Kind Of Grady-Related.

I was out on Ship Island on Saturday, May 8. No oil on the island. Water was clear with plenty of bait fish, mullet, and dolphins around the island. There were booms placed at the west end of the island that extended about one mile down the island toward the east. There were break points in...

    Floor Coating

I just finished painting my cockpit floor with West Marine nonskid deck paint. I have only had it out twice but it looks great. It did take a long time to completely dry. Good luck.

minimum hp for GW 19' tournament

Take a look at the Suzuki 140. Should be a great match for your boat; four stroke, quiet, great gas mileage, light weight. I have a new one on my boat, a 1985 204C, and it works great. The Suzuki web site has some performance specs for their motors on different boats. That might help you...

    Trailering question

I have a 1985 204C. My chines are 52 inches apart. You need to place the bunkers inside or outside of the chines. The edge of the chines should not rest on the bunkers. I just bought a new to me trailer and decided to place the bunkers outside the chines so that the boat would ride a little...

    Synthetic Oil

You might want to go to the "bob is the oil guy" website. Go to the marine oil forum. Lot's of good stuff there.

    Transom scuppers below water line

It seems that there are two issues here. One is that the scuppers are at or below the waterline. The second is that your boat is sinking lower in the water. There have been many threads on this forum about Grady scuppers. You might want to check out some of these threads to look at the...

    Trailer bunkers

Thanks Chum-Along. My old trailer was not made for my Grady and the trailer repair guy told me that the bunkers might be set too far apart.

    Transom scuppers below water line

Even though the scuppers are submerged, or partially submerged, they will still drain your cockpit. If you plug them and get a heavy rain you might be sorry, even with a bilge pump. It sounds like your boat is getting lower in the water. I would pull the boat out of the water and check out...

    Trailer bunkers

I have a 1985 204 C and I am looking for a slightly used, new to me trailer. The trailer that I have now has the bunkers set apart 59 inches, inside edge to inside edge. How does that compare to other 204 owners? Thanks.

What color bottom paint would you recommend

I used the Interlux Bottomkote black this year and I am really pleased with the results. The 3M Scotch Blue painter's tape worked well too. Black looks better than the navy blue. Good luck.

Great Website Just donated, thanks for the great website. I bought a used Grady in January and this site has been a tremendous help. Keep up the good work.

    Trailering Question

I had a similar rig a few years ago. Even with an automatic transmission cooler I had to stay out of overdrive. Also, I kept the speed down to 55. I really felt like the boat was pushing me around, not just stopping but changing lanes and with 18 wheelers passing on the interstate. If you...

    Where does the water go?

I just had the same problem with my 1985 204c. The tank in the floor drains into the bilge. Look down in the bilge by the transom and you will see two drain holes at the rear of the fuel tank bulkhead. The port side drain is the one that leads to the forward compartments. I used water and...
