Calling anyone who has successfully applied hull striping.

I forgot about the clear portion of the tape that is removed after you apply to hull, so you end up with 3 separate stripes. You want to remove this clear portion of tape after the soapy water has dried (next day). See pic. I cannot believe that shipping for some lightweight tape would be...

Calling anyone who has successfully applied hull striping.

The OEM striping came off as 1 piece from the roll, with the clear space being a piece of the vinyl, so do not have to worry about separate pieces. That is what made it so easy to apply. This also allows you to unroll 3'+ sections at a time to keep things straight. I could see if the striping...

OEM Grady White Beige 1-3/8 x 1/4 Vinyl Trim

Good job on the install. Just curious, did you replace it because of the mildew looking stains on this vinyl trim that do not seem to come off? I have tried a lot of different cleaners/bleach w/o luck.

Calling anyone who has successfully applied hull striping.

I restriped my 228 a few years ago. I bought the striping from the local GW dealer. Your striping looks a lot different than the OEM striping. My striping has the paper backing on the back side, and is sticky with some type of adhesive. Very easy to bend/stretch around the bow. There should...

    Grady white 228g soft spot

I had the same problem with a 1984 228 gas tank floor hatch that I had. I removed the hatch and drilled ~1.5" holes in the bottom side with a saw blade hole saw, after removing the center drill, so you do not drill all the way through the panel. I went to Fiberglass Coatings Store and bought...

    228 Windlass install completed.

Good job on the windlass install. Look into the Lewmar anchor chain pin lock to secure anchor when traveling. It works great and eliminates any loose hardware from flopping around. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/lewmar--anchor-lock--9397134

    batteries

Could be as simple as the tech not tightening the wires on the battery connection and they vibrated loose on the cruise. Did you check the wire connections?

    Seafarer Fresh Water Tank

Yes the freshwater tank is for both. Yes, fill with the hose. I turn hose on full blast and overflow, so any algae contaminants will float out the top. May want to add a tad of bleach for algae buildup.

    bilge pump ( rear )

Don't forget to put some foam padding around the edge where live well was, while diving in. I had bruises on my chest while hanging upside down for an extended time. Seal the old mounting screw holes and new screw holes with a good sealant, for water penetration.

Transom Mount Transducer on a Marlin

I recently replaced 2 transducers on the transom of a GW228 Seafarer. Had to fill existing screw holes with polyester epoxy mixed w/ ground glass and top w/ gel coat. I used the Stern Pad Jumbo to mount a new Garmin sidescan transducer. The Stern Pad block uses a 3M self stick adhesive pad...

Look at prices in the Boat Trader, especially the ones in your area. That is what you are going to compete with.

Seafarer bracketed w/Bimini vs no bracket and hardtop

So what you are asking is picking between the 226 and the 228 Seafarer. I have had both and currently have a 2005 228. I would pick the 228 w/ bracket. Better ride, closed transom and large swim platform. BUT, the 228 you are looking at is older. I would keep looking for a newer 228 w/ a 4...

    Trailer to small?

Absolutely too small. You also want the bunks to support the weight on the transom (motors).

    226 front bilge question

There is a drain tube from bow to stern, along with a plug you can pull under forward compartment. At least for the older GW 226.

Hull bottom and specs on Grady 228.

I have an Owens trailer also. Here are some pics of the new Bow Stop. I had issues with the original winch stand on every ramp around here. Almost ruined my pulpit and made it a PIA. I also went with the 15" tires and steel wheels, the trailer floats like a top (Not happy with that). I...
