    2008 - 282 Sailfish prop pitch / bow steer

Yes they do, thanks. Its not really a problem unless I'm in wind over current situation, or sometimes a following sea. The boat runs great in a head sea. It may just be the way it is since the bow is heavy.

    2008 - 282 Sailfish prop pitch / bow steer

Thanks Legend - I was seeing a few threads on here and THT that guys were running 17 pitch on the Sailfish. Oddly, I am still getting up to 6000RPM at WOT with 19 pitch. The problem is that the bow stays very low at cruise speed.

    2008 - 282 Sailfish prop pitch / bow steer

I have a 2008 282 Sailfish and am wondering if I should change up my props. I have the 3.3 liter F250's, equipped with Saltwater Series II , 15 1/4 diameter 19 Pitch. I cruise at 4300 - 4500 rpm, with the engines trimmed up about halfway (in flat conditions). Or 1 block under halfway. I know...

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Thanks all for your help and advice. I will circle back to let you know how things worked out. Likely not for a couple of weeks since I have a lot of work travel going on.

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Ok, well I'm glad to know I don't have an imminent re-fit for the wiring coming up. Amp for the stereo? Its wired on its own, directly to the battery switch fuse panel. Agreed on the Batts. One of them was purchased last season, Odyssey Group 31. In progress of replacing the 2 that are from...

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Which begs another question - if my boat is 15 years old and most of the wiring is original. When do you think I'm at the point where I need to consider completely re-wiring the boat?

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Thank you both. Sounds like I need to do some digging around. Being that the boat is 15 years old, corrosion seems a likely culprit.

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Gotcha. Thanks Hookup, I will to do some testing with my voltmeter and see what I find. I'll report back when I can.

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

Correct, yes there is a larger gauge wire feeding the entire helm. I was incorrectly thinking that the wire powering the fuse block for my electronics went all the way back to the battery fuse area. Good advice, Seasick, as well. Thanks. So, what I have is a 6 gauge main power line feeding a...

    Helm Power Wire Gauge?

With today's power hungry electronics, what gauge wire should be bringing power to the helm? I have a 2008 282 Sailfish, which has a 12 AWG main cable bringing power to the helm from the battery switch. I'm getting the feeling that its not enough, I estimate I am using at least 16 amps with...

Chartplotter turning off when cranking Port Engine

Thanks SkunkBoat, I like that idea. I was kind of thinking that as well. Appreciate the input, seems the long story short is that I can't have my house bank also being used as a start bank. Also, I appreciate the Manasquan location! I grew up fishing with my uncle out of Hoffman's marina, 25'...

Chartplotter turning off when cranking Port Engine

Sorry all, been crazy here and hadn't gotten back on. Thank you for the advice - Yes I have 3 batteries, all Group 31 AGM's. One is brand new. The other two were load tested and are in good shape. I also have a ProMariner 3 bank battery charger. So as far as I (and the boat yard) can tell, its...

Chartplotter turning off when cranking Port Engine

I have a 2008 282 Sailfish with twin 250 Yamahas (F250 / LF250) and 2014 Raymarine electronics. With the batteries turned on correctly (not combined), when I crank the Port Engine the Chartplotter/MFD turns off, every time. No other electronics shut off and it never happens with the Starboard...
