Please Please Please, get a cover for that new boat. My boat sits on a trailer in my driveway and lots of trees in the area. It's not gonna be pretty when those leaves get wet and then dry on your new gelcoat. The stains are horrendous

I use the wifes hair bungee's - Just need to tie a knot in em, but they do work. Dont see why that couldnt be cut from a thick piece of rubber. but $30. NFW
