Went with the 150 I put on a low hours OMC 2 stroke 150 (2004 so its a Bombardier) on the old girl and love it. Plenty of go and not bad on gas. I've been running it all summer and havent had a single issue.

I love my 77 Dolphin Maybe I just got lucky, but I bought a 77 dolphin in good shape for short money and added a low hours 04 OMC 150. I use it a couple of days a week, and have had no problems with it except a failed float switch. Love it.

I just repowered my 20' 77 Dolphin with an 03 carbureated Johnson 150, I was just wondering what the cruising and top end RPMs should be on what I assume is this common motor? It's replacing a 87 Suzuki 150, and I gotta tell ya, it's quieter, stronger, and so far, dead reliable. I almost went...

Yup, I thought that I'd heard they were problem ridden, I guess I'll stick with the regular OMC 2 stroke. I'll post some pictures of my well loved Dolphin, it stopped being pretty long ago, but it plys the Gulf of Maine all summer long! Jim

I'm thinking about repowering my old 20' Dolphin with a low hours 1999 175 Ficht OMC, but I seem to remember something about the top cylinders burning on the Ficht models due to low oil pressure up there at some point, does anyone remember the deal on that? Jim

Off topic question Hey Awnuld, I've got a 20' 77 Dolphin as well. It needs repowering and I'm not sure if it needs a 20 or 25" leg (it's in Maine and I'm in NH for the week). The marina needs to know what length in order to give me a price quote, do you happen to know the length of yours...

That's what I figured, too bad, price was right on the 130. I'm not sure what the boats power rating is, but now I'm thinking that I might put a bigger motor (like a 225) on that can run at lower rpm at cruising speed, which might actually improve mileage. What are your thoughts? Jim

I am repowering my 1977 Dolphin with a 1997 Evirude 130 HP, it had a tired 150 HP Suzuki. Is this new motor going to be enough for the old girl? Thanks in advance for any advice that you may lend! Jim
