Rust from ladder on boat "pad" (non slip surface)

If you're gonna put another pad/deck it pad there, I'd just leave the rusty pad and put the new pad over it. Why bother with all the effort to remove it then?

Rust from ladder on boat "pad" (non slip surface)

You'll need a heat gun to get that sucker off. There are a number of spray on rust removers that I've had great success with. I would first try spraying "Iron Out" rust removing spray. Starbrite Rust Stain Remover works well too. This may be too far gone but it's worth a try and the rest of the...

    Repowering 2007 330 Express 350s or 425's

Boat was beefed up for the F350s in 2008 and again in 2020 for the 425s. A 2007 should not be powered with more than F300s.

    305 Express Transom Repair

That's good to hear. Being a G/W dealer, I'm sure they were aware of what they were doing. Sorry for any false alarms or undue stress.

    305 Express Transom Repair

Unless they glassed over the transom brace using putty or something. Hard to tell from the pics.

    305 Express Transom Repair

The aluminum they removed was structural. Not talking about the transom cap. It appears that they cut out the top of the angled transom brace in order to glass the top. Watch for cracking as time goes by.

    330 transom rot

Glass doesn't stick to aluminum. The transom coring (Xl Ply) stops an inch or two before the top of the transom. There is then an aluminum L brace capping the wood and then putty sealing the trim cap over the L brace. It's this L brace that bolts into the stringers and gives Gradys their...

    Keeping cubby door open?

I'd say to mount a strap/loop bracket on the door and one on the roof and then simply use a velcro strap. https://scoutparts.com/Scout_80_800_Door_Check_Strap_Bracket_Footman_Loop_862220R1_Scout_80_Scout_800/p10133 https://marcumtech.com/product/velcro-strap/

    New Express 305 Hard Top

Is the moisture causing any issues other than there just being moisture in there?

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

With my limited experience on cats, the one thing I really didn't like was the need to be so attentive at the wheel. They don't track straight and are a real handful in a following sea. Whereas the Marlin only requires a hand draped over the wheel for corrective steering and is a dream trimmed...

    Yamaha f225 knocking sound

If your guy is a Yamaha tech, he'll know to check the thermostat bore as well. With the age of that motor, the corrosion may have well reached the base of the powerhead and the therm bore. The flange on the exhaust tube is completely gone.

    Adding Bow Thruster 330 Express

I can vouch for East Coast Bow Thrusters. Seen his work on over 20 boats and he is exceptional. He's also priced very fairly.

228 Seafarer Yamaha 250hp outboard sits low in water

I'd be willing to bet a decent sum of money that the engine bracket is full of water. Many yards don't check the bracket drain plug before launching and it doesn't take long for the bracket to fill. It's also very easy to cross thread the plug being plastic and screwing into aluminum threads...

Busted for riding on the bow

We had to clarify this in our area too. The "bow" of the boat is defined as: "The exterior of the forward end of a vessel, especially one in which the hull slopes back on both sides of the stem." So "Bow Riding" would be defined as riding on the forward END of the vessel, presumably with ones...

Sell me on a Marlin vs 305 Express

The Express was designed with a bit more "day boat" of a layout with some distinct differences so that it would not "kill" the Marlin. In a nutshell: Marlin: Larger Forward Vee Berth (more room for sleeping there) Larger Cockpit (more fishing room) Split helm seating (better for those of us...
