    mystery water

its definitely salt water. I thought it may be rain/topside water to the point I've taped off my anchor locker and i still have water. I'm on the hard now for the winter so my next move is to flood it from the inside & hopefully see where it leaks out

    mystery water

so, last year i bought a 2000 Gulfstream which i absolutely love. I now understand the cult-like obsession! while at anchor at the beach, i noticed the forward bilge kick on and discharge water. i went into the cuddy, popped the inspection port and saw standing water.i manually pumped it out...

    Carry an Extra Propeller ?

I always carry a spare prop. also a prop wrench & a block of 2x4. i equate it to driving without a spare tire. i joking say if you've never hit a sandbar you haven't been boating long enough! joking aside, i've out in the middle of the bay when my prop spun. after limping over an hour home, i...

    Show Us Your Grady

Recently moved up from lizmae III 228 seafarer to the Lizmae Fore! 232 gulfstream. Love the new boat. Had my original enclosure done over which came out amazing! Added a couple creature comforts too for overnights!

    Re-locating batteries on a '92 228G

I finally broke down and went to the Dark Side. I'm replacing my beloved 225 SWS w a 250 4 stroke. I know there's a significant weight difference and I'm wondering if anyone else has moved the batteries forward to offset some of the additional weight.

228 seafarer wash down/live well handle

I have '92 228 & my livewell/washdown pump handle ( the one under the rocket launcher)-left is wash down & right is live well-snapped and apparently a "NLA" status w Grady. Any suggestions or does anyone possibly have one? Thanks!

    New boat prices

boat price 2 years ago at the in-water boat show in Boston, the 228 w/ 225 Yami 4 stroke was $85K, commercial on the radio couple weeks ago, 228 @ $68K. There are deals to be made. Couldn't agree more w/ the earlier posts of you get what you pay for. I'd take my '92 GW over half the boats in...

Air conditioning? generator? Esp. forward bilge, shouldn't have that much water. If your running around, hull is mostly above the waterline, right? Check thru-hulls, hair line cracks, sealant around t-h's. 6-8 gals sounds like a lot to me, esp. if it's constant.

scuppers letting water back into my 208

unfortunately, with enough weight, the deck height will go below the waterline and water will back in. There is a misconception about scups. They are not designed to be water tight, although the ball scups do a pretty good job. The flappers are designed to stop a followng sea or backing down...

    Just joined

Freddy makes an awesome point. 2 foot-itis sets in really fast. I would suggest at least looking at the 228. Add a disco ball & you've got a dance floor. you won't be disappointed.

What do you consider a 'good amount'? gallons? A little 'standing' water can be normal-but your pump should not be cycling on & off. I had what i would consider a good amount of water in my bilge last year after many years of a dry bilge b/c of some topside work. still cannot find the souce.

weight of 1997 Yamaha Saltwater series II

Met a guy last summer who repowered a 228 w/ a 225 E-tec and he could not stop raving about it. Had absolutely nothing bad to say about the weight, performance, scups etc. It will be my next engine.

CRAP !!!!!! VERY aggravated. Help please :-0

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago w/ the gypsy moths. Black little spots ALL over the boat. Use Krazy Clean and let the boat sit in the sun. The spots won't disappear before your eyes but they will be gone in a day or so.
