    Gel coat repair 228G 1994

Last year I made some repairs to some minor trailer damage on the forward keel of my '95 Sailfish. I used the TotalBoat 2 part Gelcoat and that seemed to do well for the repair, but I did not even attempt to color match the existing gelcoat, so that may be something worth researching. I don't...

94 Sailfish fresh water tank - how long do they last?

I've got a '95 Sailfish and was wondering the same last season. How would you access the tank if you wanted to take it out? I did new fuel tanks last season and that was a bear on it's own. Never noticed a way to get to the fresh water tanks. I can only imagine that job.

Spark Plug Maintenance on Yamaha 2 Strokes

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Much appreciated. To confirm, they were new plugs at 14 ft/lbs, but it seems like the consensus is 1/4 - 1/2 turn, so when I swap all plugs before the new season I'll follow this advice. Anyone know where to get an OEM manual? I honestly didn't realize...

Spark Plug Maintenance on Yamaha 2 Strokes

Hi All, Last season I was doing some maintenance on my 1995 Yamaha 200TXRT 2 strokes, including doing some spark plug replacements. I bought the SELOC Yamaha Outboard 1984-96 Repair Manual for reference, and in the spark plug section, upon installation of the new spark plugs, it says to use...

    Is it Gas?

Since I'm unfamiliar, what kind of rag would you recommend and how would you effectively check it for gas? Thanks for the tip!

    Is it Gas?

So as an update, for those interested, we did a thorough inspection of both tanks to the best of our ability, short of doing a full pressure test, as the concern was raised that considering the tanks are nearing end of life, if there isn't an official problem now, that may in all likelihood...

    Shower flex hose source

I just did a full replacement on my 1995 272 Sailfish with this Whale replacement pack - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FHETKU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It's a different model number since the original for my '95 is no longer made, but it just took grinding out the sink hole to be...

    Is it Gas?

Boat will be at Utch’s Marina, but it’s still in PA right now as I’ve been working on it intermittently after work before bringing it down for the season.

    Is it Gas?

Alright so I’m not seeing any rainbow swirls on top but this sure is interesting. We did just run the fresh water system in God knows how long last weekend, and the water heater input hose had a pretty significant leak that I also need to plug, so this may just be some gross buildup from up...

    Is it Gas?

They are two strokes, and where you’re looking in the bilge is just forward of the transom, and just aft of the fuel tanks. I’ll try the jar/scoop trick shortly.

    Is it Gas?

Just need someone more experienced to confirm what I’m fairly certain I already know. I have been noticing the smell from the bilge for a little while now. I haven’t put it in the water yet due to other repairs I’m doing after buying it back in May. I figured since it’s a 1995 that I’d need to...

    Sailfish 272 Pump Issues

To those who guessed corrosion, you were right. I’ll give some context below for anyone who might need it in the future, but after some cleaning of the panel connections, both bilge pumps are now working (swapped the aft one regardless as it was cracked and caked in gunk), and the wash down...

    Sailfish 272 Pump Issues

Thanks for all the replies everyone, just getting into electrical work with this stuff, so the information here has been really helpful. I finally got some time this evening to spend on this issue, and I started with the panel. All connections were secured, and none seemed particularly...

    Sailfish 272 Pump Issues

Hi all, new owner of a 1995 Sailfish 272. Working on finding some replacement seals for the trim cylinders, fixing the windlass, and a variety of other things, but one thing I can’t find a lot of helpful information on is the electrical issue I’m having. In the attached picture, I have the aft...
